NASB | Numbers 33:55 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come about that those whom you let remain of them will become as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will trouble you in the land in which you live. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Numbers 33:55 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those you let remain of them will be like pricks in your eyes and like thorns in your sides, and they will attack you in the land in which you live. |
Subject: Why the children? |
Bible Note: Inquisitor, Inquisitor, Inquisitor ... Even the title differs what you believe. Even Matthew Henry says it is a BLESSING, not about being in the kingdom - being saved. Verse 14 ends "The kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" ... not "The kingdom of heaven belongs to these". If you look at the bigger context, it is between Divorce (19:1-12) and The Rich Young Man (19:16-30). See how this compares to Ephisians 5:21-6:9. In 1 Corinthians 7:14, we read "For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy". Read the context ... does this mean the unbelieving spouse or children are saved? I think child's "holiness" is removed if they go live with the unbelieving spouse. Searcher |
