NASB | Numbers 33:55 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come about that those whom you let remain of them will become as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will trouble you in the land in which you live. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Numbers 33:55 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those you let remain of them will be like pricks in your eyes and like thorns in your sides, and they will attack you in the land in which you live. |
Bible Question: In Ezekiel 18:20, God promise' us that the Children shall not bear the sin of the parents neither shall the parents, the children. My question then is, why did He destroy the children along with the parents in some of the cities that were His enemies? |
Bible Answer: Another good reason in addition to those you've been given is the innocence of children. Thus they're assured a place in Heaven. There are several verses confirming this but one of the strongest is from the Lord Himself in Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” As you've indicated it's sometimes difficult to understand all of what our God does and the decisions He makes. To that I can only respond with Is 55:8 “ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. So we must simply accept the idea that our God truly is all powerful, all knowing much like a child simply accepts this idea about his parents. I hope this helps and God bless, Inquisitor |
