Subject: Why the children? |
Bible Note: Read Matt 19:14 in context to see what is Jesus' teaching to His disciple. Consider the cultural background in the passage : women, children - their status in the Jewish society. Contrasting the helpless and low class (children and women) with the rich young man relying on his own righteousness and richness. So, the message is not about children have a place secured in heaven for their innocence, but rebuking those deeming themselves high status (or of higher value and rich) and self-righteous but not depending on God. My 2 cents :-) Shalom Azure |
