1 | Can sinnners inherit the kingdom of God? | 1 Cor 6:9 | billk | 56590 | ||
Jubilee and New Creature Thanks for taking the time to answer I haven’t sin the particular sins listed below in 1COR6 in a long time (well, except covetness). But there’s still no doubt in my mind that I am a loathsome habitual sinner. Habitually, I put my self interests before the interests of God and the interest of others…. I break God’s two GREATEST commandments on an daily (if not an hourly) basis and I have yet to meet a human who doesn’t….. that why I need Jesus and his loving suffering and death: so I, a loathsome habitual sinner, can inherit the kingdom of God. 1cor6 know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God |

Dear billk; I admire your honesty. By admitting you sin, and fail in doing what God would desire you to do, is a good first step. If you feel like you can't overcome these sins in your own strength, and power, then thats a plus also. Scripture says - "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.( James 4:7 ) The devil will tempt us to be sure. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan . (Matthew Chapter 4:1-11) Jesus set the example for us when He was tempted by the devil. Jesus resisted the devil in these verses and the result was, the devil fled from Him. Scripture tells us: - that when we are tempted, the Lord has provided an exit out of the temptation - "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]." (1Cor. 10:13) Being tempted is not sin. but giving in to the temptation instead of resisting is sin, and in that case we need to repent, with the desire to turn from that particular sin. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (James 1:14) Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We need to follow the clear direction in 1 John 1 where we are told that we need to confess our sin. Sin separates us from God, and takes us out of fellowship with Him. If we confess and forsake sin in our lives, and walk in the light as He is in the light then the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin. Carefully read the following verses - 1John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Pray to the Lord and tell Him from a sincere heart that you sincerely want to turn from your sin. Tell Him to give you the power to help you overcome the sin in your life. And then trust Him. Surrender to Him today. If you continue to have trouble with certain sin(s) in your life you may also want to become part of an accountability group at your church if you have one. If not ask if you can speak to your Pastor May God bless |
