Greetings Val, I wonder if John neglected to add your information to the verses in the following? John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. “Surrendering your life to Him to follow Him as Saviour and Lord by this belief in Him is how one is saved.” One of you must be wrong or parenthetical, CDBJ |

Dear CDBJ, I wasn't quoting John. There are some who believe in who Jesus is but it is not a genuine faith. That faith comes about only when one is willing to surrender to Christ as Lord and Saviour. The bible says that even the demons believe and we know who they are surrendered to. James 2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. Sincerely, Val |

When Christ asked his decuples who they thought he was, Peter gave the right answer and that, according to Christ, brought Peter to the place of blessedness because he was a believer at that point; nothing more and nothing less. Matthew 16:15-18 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Faith in the fact of just who Jesus is, God’s Messiah is what brings one into the blessedness of salvation and as a result their believing this fact places them into the body of Christ, i.e. the church. Don’t get salvation mixed up with discipleship. The topic of discussion in James was in regards to there being only one God not the fact of who Jesus is as the Messiah. Could you please point out in the Bible where it says, as you imply: “when one is willing to surrender to Christ as Lord and Saviour”, thou shalt be saved? CDBJ |

CDBJ, James 2:19; look at the whole chapter and count how many times the word "faith" is used. There are contrasts in the book of James. He is contrasting in chapter two what a genuine faith looks like. Sincerely, Val | ||||||
