1 | Not by works or Partly by works? | Rom 6:3 | Morant61 | 80715
Greetings Sniper! Good evening my friend! I am at a loss as to how you do not see the contradiction inherent in your interpretation of James 2:24. Eph. 2:8-9 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - 9 not by works, so that no one can boast." Paul does not say, 'Not just by works'. He does not say, 'Partly by works'. Yet, according to your interpretation of James 2:24, man is saved partly by works. Clearly, there is a problem here. There is a huge difference between 'not by works' and 'partly by works'! :-) I believe that the key to this problem is quite simple. You are taking James 2:24 out of context. James 2 is not dealing with how a person gets saved, but the evidence of salvation. James 2:14 speaks of those 'who claim to have faith' but let others go hungry or naked. James 2:17 speaks of real faith being accompained by action (which Paul also says in Eph. 2:10). In 2:18, James speaks of demonstrating his faith through his deeds, not just talking about it. This is the context, not salvation. I have previously posted that one of the possible meaning of the verb translated as 'justified' in James 2:24 is 'to show to be righteous'. The verb can mean 'to make righteous', but it can also mean 'to show or to declare righteous'. This meaning of the verb does not contradict Paul, and it fits the context of the passage. Faith, accompanied by action, is demonstrated to be real faith. This is what James 2:24 is saying, not that faith plus works saves. This would be a direct contradiction of Eph. 2:8-9, Gal. 2, and Rom. 4. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hey Bro. News flash.Contrary to the teachings of alot of Christians these days, the entire bible does not teach Eph.2:8-9 to everyone.James doctrinaly is mainly for a Tribulation saint. You find alot of Tribulation doctrine in Matt.,Heb.,James,Rev..This is where all the cults get their verses on faith plus works for salvation NOW.Now we go by Eph.2:8-9.In the Tribulation if you take the Mark (Rev.14)you go to Hell. This is works,no matter how you slice it.I don't have space here to elaborate very far on this, but read James 1:1 to find out WHO the letter is to.Most of the Bretheren skip verse 1 and miss "to the TWELVE TRIBES which are scattered abroad, greeting".Read all of James(the word for"Jacob"!)and look for key words that belong in Jacobs Trouble(Trib.). "sun","burning heat"(second advent),notice the rich are always damned and the poor always saved. Why?The Mark makes the difference between rich and poor in the Tribulation. There is much more.Just pray for understanding of the scriptures and read James through again.

To All Forum Readers, The following are just a few plain verses...[edited] Matt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Mark 16:16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Acts 9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized; Acts 22:16 'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.' Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Col 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 1 Pet 3:21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, sniper |

Brother Sniper, Why did Jesus has to suffer and die in the cross for us if we can save ourselves through our own work? Or if we can really "assist" Jesus in our salvation, maybe the thorns on His head should be minus one, or the nail on His left hand be taken out , or maybe He should have been crucified with His clothes on to diminish a little bit the shame? In Christ Jesus Ngop |

It's entirely possible that"snipper" is a Cambellite and is just trying to snipe Christians. When ever I'm about to lead a soul to Christ on the street one of these Water Dogs appears out of nowhere and trys to confuse the potential convert on Acts 2:38.#1 Becouse the natural man recieveth not the things of the Spirit of God;for they are foolishness unto him:neither can he know them, becouse they are spiritually discerned.#2Becouse they are led of the Devil. You can't get anywhere with them, even if you talk till your blue in the face.
