1 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80477 | ||
Hello again Sniper, I've noticed that people try to explain James' thesis on faith and works by saying this is the faith men see, as if it is a different faith than God sees. I guess they do this since it is difficult to reconcile Paul's statement in Romans with James'. The answer is not to arrive at a doctrine that contradicts James. Paul says we are justified by faith and not by works. But James says that the same faith does work. That is the only way to harmonize. Thanks for being faithful to the word. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay faithful til death. |

Samantha, You are speaking the truth. Not only is that the way to harmonize those two passages, but it is the only way to harmonize either passage with the teachings of the rest of the Bible. God bless. sniper |

Thank you. The answer doesn't seem to be what many on this forum have settled on: Two faiths, one faith that God sees and one faith that men see! Faith is obedient (Romans 1:5; 16:26; 1 Thess 1:3) and Faith is IN the Grace of God. Trouble only arises when Faith is IN one's obedience/works. Trouble also arises when faith is not obedient. Faith that does not obey God cannot save. The moment of salvation doesn't come before obedient faith. Thanks again. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized |
