1 | Can a toddler go to heaven? | Rom 3:23 | sniper | 76462 | ||
Thanks for your post. I agree with I Peter 5:5. I believe that younger men should be subject to older men who arfe teaching what is right. Please read the verses I posted to you previously and give me your thoughts. Don't we have a responsibility to check everything against the scriptures? Or should we blindly follow older men because they are older? |

sniper, Praise Him from the mountain tops! Praise Him from the valleys! Praise Him from the bottom of the seas! Let the praise of the Lord our God be heard throughout the earth! Praise the name of the Lord! I agree with you that we have a responsibility to check everything against scripture. No, I do not belive that we should follow the teachings of all older men just because they are older. The way I understand it, Peter is writing to the churches just as all the others; Paul, James, Jihn, and the author of Hebrews. To me Peter is speaking to the younger men in the body of Christ about the older men in the body of Christ. I believe in my previous posting I wrote "elder in Christ", Did I not? I still regret ever entering this discussion but I love little ones so much that when I see anything posted to the forum that asks of their salvation, I just cannot help but jump in somewhere. I think, no, I know that I have learned my lesson this time. I will continue to pray to the Lord my God for them (see the scriptures below). I'M NOT AT ALL DECLARING THAT MY PRAYERS WILL SAVE CHILDREN, no, only God can do that. From the discussions I've had in the past, I do not think that it is for me to know the exact answer. If I did maybe I would have been too relaxed in teaching my little ones about Jesus. I started talking to my daughter and my grandchildren about Jesus Christ and God our Father the very first time I saw them which was the day they were born. I did also and still do pray for them and all other shildren as well. I will continue to pray to my father for children without ceasing, but, I always end with "Not my will but your will be done." Not that He needs me to say it, I just know that His will is perfect. Luke 11:5 Then He said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; Luke 11:6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; Luke 11:7 and from inside he answers and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.' Luke 11:8 "I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. Luke 11:9 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Luke 11:10 "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. Luke 11:11 "Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Luke 11:12 "Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? Luke 11:13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" Blessings to you sniper! Always your brother in prayer and praise and in Christ our Lord, David (Cyclist) I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Yes, you did say elder in Christ. So, are you suggesting that there is a seniority rank structure within the body of Christ? Whereby, the eldest in Christ can never receive correction because there is no one senior to him? By that logic a young preacher's exhortations from the pulpit to elders would be unscriptural and not worthy of receiving. It is the responsibility of all Christians to search out what is right, and point out what is wrong. (Acts 17:11, I Jn 4:1, II Tim 4:2, Matt 18:15, II Pet 1:20) Moreover, the elder of I Peter 5 does not necessarily refer to those who are in elder in Christ. It refers to the men of age who hold the office of elder and who have met the qualifications as laid out in Titus 1:5-9 and I Tim 3:1-7. Granted, he must not be a new convert, but in no way is there seniority rank structure which precludes an older man in Christ from receiving correction when it is necessary. |

Greeting sniper - Cyclist explained his situation to you and he has responded to your original query. I suspect that Cyclist was resistent to correction or admonishment from you because he doesn't know anything about you or your faith in Jesus. You could rememdy that by filling out your personal profile! Secondly, as you have shown, there is no such thing a "seniority" but there is such a thing as maturity. As you pointed out, the qualifications for an elder are a litmus test of sorts for one who is more mature than others in the body. No, this does not mean that in age they are elder, nor does it have anything to do with the length of time that they have been believers. I know many "elderly men" who have been believers for many years but are immature in their faith. Indeed, we do need leaders who are devoted to following the LEADER! My "Senior" Pastor is a man who is almost 20 years younger than me. I respect him as the leader of our body, but I do not always agree with him. On one ocassion, as led by the Lord, I challenged him about something that he had done. Just because he is an elder in the Lord to me, he is not above being accountable to me as a co-heir in Jesus! We all have a responsibility to be accountable to one another as unto the Lord. The student is not above the teacher, yet after the student has been trained, he shall be like his teacher. Luke 6:40 After participating here for a while, there are those Froum members who I consider to be more mature in their faith than others. I read their posts with great interest, eager to know more of what God is speaking into their lives. As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another. Proverbs 27:17. I suspect that our brother Cyclist has been duly sharpened. Blessings in Jesus, mommapbs |
