1 | Levitate, go to heaven, or the City? | Rom 11:25 | MJH | 139435
In the first century if an Emperor came to a city the following would occur: A great procession would precede the Emperor with blowing horns to announce his arrival. All the people of the city, village, or town would come out to meet the Emperor on the road to the city. After meeting the Emperor outside the city to greet him, they would all return to the city and celebrations would occur. These usually had to do with worship of the Emperor as a god and the “savior of the world.” The above is available to be learned in any public library in the history section. How would the people in Thessalonica have read Paul’s letter when he says, “16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” Note, it does not mention what happens after we meet the Lord in the air. I assume we all agree we do not levitate for eternity with the Lord. This means a direction is required before the last sentence. It’s not in the text, but maybe the historical picture of the times helps us? Your thoughts? MJH |

2 | Levitate, go to heaven, or the City? | Rom 11:25 | CDBJ | 139441
This particular verse doesn’t tell us where we shall be, as you have stated, but this we do know. John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. This is a pretty safe assurance, don’t you think; whether we are levitating or gravitating, if it good enough for the Lord its good enough for us CDBJ |

6 | Levitate, go to heaven, or the City? | Rom 11:25 | CDBJ | 139554
I think that the promise given in, John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. This was an extension of the promise given to Abraham. Hebrews 11:9-10 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: [10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. This promise is shown being fulfilled Rev. 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. It thought that was a general consensus? CDBJ |

7 | Levitate, go to heaven, or the City? | Rom 11:25 | MJH | 139573
Yes, I think your conclusions are accurate. Although using "mansions" is not the best word to use. "Rooms" would be more appropriate, but it does not change at all your conclusions. MJH |

8 | Levitate, go to heaven, or the City? | Rom 11:25 | CDBJ | 139593
Hi MJH, I think that the word “mansions” would be a very appropriate English word for the nominative, feminine, plural of the Koine Greek noun, “mone”. The reason being the following, 1 Cor. 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. My wife and I reside in a very nice home in the suburbs and I am sure that what ever the Lord provides will be a mansion compared to what we have now; putting it into the human perspective! Have a nice day, CDBJ |
