How do you explain to a person between being a catholic and a christians? Why is it hard for some people to show how they really feel about God during a service? But when you are at home praying and praising God it feels much easier. |

Christian term meaning are the followers of Christ. Today, too many people called themselves "Christian" but not following the teaching of Christ. But the Term "Christian" really is you must follow Christ to called Christian, not just because you belong to a Christian religion but to be "elect" belong to His flock and follow His will. Catholic in principle is a Christian they believed that Jesus Christ is God. In addition to what I wrote, Easton Bible Dictionary Entry Christian the name given by the Greeks or Romans, probably in reproach, to the followers of Jesus. It was first used at Antioch. The names by which the disciples were known among themselves were "brethren," "the faithful," "elect," "saints," "believers." But as distinguishing them from the multitude without, the name "Christian" came into use, and was universally accepted. This name occurs but three times in the New Testament (Ac 11:26; 26:28; 1Pe 4:16). |

I'd like to point out that Christianity as opposed to any and all other religions is more than a religion. It is a relationship with God the Creator of all things. Secondly, all other "religions" tell you that it is of your own doing that you can become righteous or good enought to attain heaven (works), whereas, Christianity tells us that man's righteousness is as filthy rags and that there are no 'works' that are good enough whereby we may gain a right into heaven. God in His infinite mercy and love, made a way for us by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross, thereby, building a bridge and making a way for us to get into heaven and into His presence once again. The difference between Catholicism and Christianity is that Catholicism follows the customs of men, much the way the Pharises of the Bible did. They believed that by acting or not acting in certain ways and by doing or not doing certain things that they would automatically be given passage into heaven and the presence of God. God was saying then, and is still saying to this day that we are all sinners and by definition - fall short of the glory and presence of God. That's why he sent His only Son to redeem the world and open the way back to God for us. We could never and can never do this apart from Christ. Catholicism limits us to our own human abilities and capablities, in that we pray to a human (confession) for forgiveness of sins that only the blood of the savior can provide. It's not by certain acts or ritualistic prayers that we are given or granted anything other than that of our own vain glory and pride. | ||||||

You should post your note to me to a primary, so catholics in this forum would read your point, me myself is not a catholic, that is why I put "in principle" in my comments about catholic. I dont want to judge them because they believed mostly is doctrines of man (not in scriptures) Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. I leave it to God to judge everyone of us! God bless, Johnny |
