Revelation knowledge that Jesus was the Son of God, that's what the Church is built on. Jesus is the Head of the Church, not Peter or any other Pope. They are head of a particular denomination, but Jesus heads His own Church. | ||||||

The following verses will help you to understand Catholic faith. Scripture speaks of two kinds of tradition. One is condemned and the other requires belief. One is tradition of men and the other Sacred tradition. Paul tells us in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 “So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” notice how Paul ranks oral tradition with written tradition. Also in 1 Thessalonians 2:15” And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God,” 1Corinthians 11:2 “I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you” Acts 2:42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” It is only when we embrace Scripture and Sacred Tradition that we have the complete Word of God. Mat 4:4” But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” The Scribes and Pharisees were violating one of the commandments with their own tradition [tradition of men], and Jesus corrects them with the traditional interpretation [Sacred Tradition] in Mark 7:8 “You leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men." 9 And he said to them, "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God, in order to keep your tradition!” |

But I do understand the Cath faith. I was born and raised a Cath, I went to Cath school, Daddy's first cousin is a priest, Mama had a great uncle who was an archbishop. I was a good Cath until priest started telling us in religion class about Bible is a myth, just to compete w/mythology. I was already feeling effects of Vat II at the time and questioning what I was taught. By the time I was 20, I had decided it was all a crock, RCC was a crock, there was no Jesus, Bible was a crock and was a heathen until I got saved another decade later. But I never knew about salvation as taught in the Bible and that's a lot of religion classes you go to every school day not to know a word. I knew all about mortal sin and veniel sin and indelgences and all the rituals, but Jesus was unreachable, that's why you had to ask Mary or saints to talk to him, after all, he can't be bothered w/likes of us! All RCC is is a lot of traditions of men and I suggest anyone who actually has met the real Jesus to find a better place because you are not going to change their minds. |
