1 | Is God really I am who or what I am? | John 3:14 | Hank | 46471
Giam, the Scriptures teach, and God Himself sets the example, to hate sin and evil. The serpent of Genesis is the personification and embodiment of evil. The snake you may find in the forest or in your garden is no more evil than your pet goldfish. Thus, we have no command to "hate" snakes or any other creature. While I don't personally hate snakes, I don't generally invite them into my den to watch television! Your confusion seems to generate from the assumption that snakes and Satan are somehow intertwined. They are not. Snakes are members of the animal kingdom. Satan is not. Snakes are not fallen angels. Satan is.--Hank
2 | Is God really I am who or what I am? | John 3:14 | Giam | 46498
Thanks Makarios! Yes, I love snakes and in love stay far away from them! So too, I love Satan and with Love resist him and want to be in Love far away from him! See? My point was/is that to hate snakes or to hate Satan or to hate anyone or anything is the same Hate misapplied! Satan is also compared to a lion. 1 peter 5:8-9. So the same premise and logic in love applies: it is wrong to hate lions and wrong to hate satan! Satan is only Lucifer in hate! Lucifer was Satan in Love! Do u follow? Hate must only be applied to sin, and sin is the hating of anything God loves! Satan is only evil because of the evil attitide of sin of him hating himself and so trying to get us to hate him so to get us to disobey God who commands us to lvoe our worse and number one enemy, our spiritual enemy: Satan. So if we hate Satan, we are dissing God and obeying Satan, and if we love Satan, we are obeying God and disobeying satan! Matthew 5:43-48 and Ephesians 6:10-12. Since Satan hates us, when we hate him back,, when we resend hate to him, we are just like him who hates his enemies, and we are not like God who loves His enemies! see? Your comments please! l and r, giam |

Greetings Giam! I can certainly agree with what you said here, "Yes, I love snakes and in love stay far away from them!" :-) But I cannot follow nor agree with your logic concerning love and Satan. You see, Satan is the very absence of love. Satan is the ultimate darkness and God is the Light that penetrates all! Satan, if ever he did contain or resemble anything that was once noble, is wretched with evil and is beyond any redeeming whatsoever. Also, Satan does not have any redeeming qualities, being completely and forever accursed because of his malice and pride. Therefore, one could say that 'love' is beyond Satan's grasp to attain. So you can see that a simple analogy or comparison such as yours does not do justice to how we should act or react towards Satan in light of what has been revealed to us through Scripture. No, I do not love Satan. But I do not live in fear of him either. But we are commanded to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30). Nowhere does it say that we should love Satan in any way, but the Bible tells us the very opposite about Satan.. "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." [James 4:7] Blessings to you, Makarios |
