1 | Is Jesus God? | John 1:1 | userdoe217 | 10609
Please allow me quote from the New American Standard Bible the entire text as it appears in Ch.20:27-28 from John's Gospel: "Then he (Jesus) said to Thomas, "Reach here your finger, and see my hands, and reach here your hand, and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" 1. Please observe the mark of exclamation (!) at the end of the phrase. (Note: K.J.V. has removed the exclamation mark). 2. Please observe there was no question asked in the entire narration. Hence, the text which reads "Thomas answered" is inaccurate. 3. The last phrase "My Lord and my God!" was not an *answer* but an outburst of *exclamation* by Thomas, having seen something inexplicable and baffling. Often, we too cry out; "O' my God!" when we see something totally bizarre or grotesque. 4. To prove that the above explanation is not my concocted theory, below are the texts from two reputed versions of the Bible that support this theory. a. In the New English Bible it reads: Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" b. In the Phillips Modern English Bible it reads: "My Lord and my God!" cried Thomas. |

2 | Is Jesus God? | John 1:1 | Morant61 | 10694
Greetings Isa! I was just reading your other posts! I also just finished reading a web site where Muslims attack the belief that Jesus is God! Guess what? You are using exactly the same arugement that they were using. Everyone is welcome on this Forum! However, it would be helpful if you would include a profile about yourself and describe your background. Because, if you are a Muslim who is trying to sneak your point of view onto this Forum, you should at least be open about it. I would be more than happy to discuss your beliefs with you! However, we must do it openly! It would not be right for me, as a Christian, to get on a Muslim forum and pretend that I was a Muslim, while trying to tear down their faith. If I am wrong about your position, I apologize! However, it would still be helpful if you would let us know your background, because your posts thus far are definitely not mainstream! In Christ, Tim Moran |

3 | The name Jesus | John 1:1 | userdoe217 | 10753
Sorry I did not realise i had to declare my faith. Please take a look at my other post. :) But I would be surprised if you could find quotes in the Quran that prove the divinity of Christ, No, I am not trying to tear down your faith - yet I have seen quotes that seem to disprove his divinity in the Bible. Then again, I may be wrong, Hopefully you can "show me the ropes" around here. Eesa (Arabic) (Jesus is Esau in Hebrew) Anyone know where the name Jesus came from? |

Dear Isa, I appreciate your participation, but we "assumed" that you would be a Christian like us on this Forum. If you say anything that would in any way 'contradict' or promote any other religion other than Christianity, then we will question you and ask that you would declare your faith, since this is a 'Bible Study Forum' for Christians. Nolan, I feel the need to disagree with you. This should not be considered a "Bible Study Forum" for CHRISTIANS but simply a "Bible Study Forum" period. Your statement excludes all other religions as well as atheists and agnostics from a legitimate interest in what The bible has to say. Obviously all of the above groups have questions concerning God,Jesus,Bible, Trinity, Eternal life and Christianity in general. Where do you suppose they will go to find the answers but to christians. Please don't make them feel as if we aren't willing to help them to know the truth. I feel it's perfectly fine for them to ask without needing to state their beliefs. If they promote other religions we will be able to discern that and deal with it as The Spirit leads us but always in love.....God bless you....Pixie |

Greetings Pixie! This is a very old post to which you are responding, but I'm sure Nolan will respond at some point. He is still around! I just wanted to note though that Nolan never said that non-Christians could not participate. But, those of us who have been on this forum for a long time know very well that many from other religions and/or cults frequently get on here and try to convert people to their faith. This attempt usually involves attacking the core teachings of the Bible, and this attacking is usually done in a dishonest way by those doing the attacking being unwilling to disclose who they are and what they believe. This is what Nolan was addressing. I remember very well because I was the first one who caught on to what Isa was doing. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
