1 | is jesus god? | John 1:1 | kalos | 56495 | ||
New World Translation (NWT) Acts 20:28 Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the holy spirit has appointed YOU overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son]. If this phrase had read 'purchased with the blood of his own' -- period -- it would have been OK. But you see how subtle they are. With the addition of ONE word in brackets, "[Son]", the meaning changes entirely. Thus they write it: "which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son]." |

Hi Kalos, May I speak of a marginal reading in the NASB study bible? For "He purchased" it is noted that some ancient mss. read "the Lord purchased". Also, for verse 32, a marginal reading is [one ancient mss. reads "the Lord". In other words, we can see that mss were noting that this Lord is God. This God/Man purchased the church with His blood. And now I commend you to God. He Himself who is God said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." From the heart, Ray |
