1 | What or Who is wisdom? 1 Cor 1:30 | John 15:1 | KINDNESS | 14703
What is Wisdom? We have explored "what is truth" Can we say that Jesus Himself is Wisdom? Look at 1 Cor 1:30,31 and then check out Proverb 8:12-36 and Col.1:15,16,17. Do you see a connection between thses verses? Can you add some of your own? |

2 | What or Who is wisdom? 1 Cor 1:30 | John 15:1 | Searcher56 | 14710
KINDNESS, Can we say that Jesus Himself is Wisdom? ... I wouldn't say that. "Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God" (1Co 1:30) does not say that. The context (vv 18-31) talks about wisdom. Verse 25 says "the foolishness of God is wiseer than Man's wisdom." We need Christ and His wisdom. Proverbs 8 is the call of wisdom. Wisdom and folly are compared in chapter 9. Col 1:15-17 is about the supremacy of Christ. Steve |

3 | What or Who is wisdom? 1 Cor 1:30 | John 15:1 | KINDNESS | 14725
Thanks Steve for that observation. I think you are right. But how I think of it for myself is that when I am obedient to the Word of God and walk in the Light, Christ becomes my wisdom, He lives in and through me sharing His wisdom with me so that I have the mind of Christ 1 Cor. 2:16 available always to me. Unfortunately I am not always obedient nor do I always understand or discern what His will is, to follow. I guess it takes lots of practice. In the Col.1:15-17 vs. I was trying to make a connection between Prov.8:30 "the master craftsman" and Christ being the Creator of all things. All the persons of the Godhead were involved in Gen.1 but in the NT Jesus Christ gets the credit. Do you think in Prov. 8 we have wisdom personified? Why is wisdom spoken of in the femine gender? Is it a Hebrew language thing? Waiting for your input. Thanks. Kindness |

4 | What or Who is wisdom? 1 Cor 1:30 | John 15:1 | Searcher56 | 14745
Kindness ... You asked, "Do you think in Prov. 8 we have wisdom personified?" ... Yes, as well as folly in the surrounding chapters. It gives a better illustration. You asked, "Why is wisdom spoken of in the feminine gender? Is it a Hebrew language thing?" ... Possibly. I think it was the mothers that taught their children. Timothy learned from his mother and grandmother (2 Tim 1:5). I think it is one reason why the mother's names are listed when the king's are mentioned. Steve |
