1 | What is a Christian? | Luke 9:32 | Morant61 | 39791
Greetings Jdthcstl! You referred to Rev. 20:12-15! This is the second resurrection. It is the resurrection and judgement of all those not included in the first resurrection (see Rev. 20:4-6). The second resurrection is for those who have never accepted Christ, and they will indeed be judged based upon their works. They will then be thrown into the lake of fire. However, those who take part in the first resurrection, will not be judged based upon their works. Rather, they are declared righteous because of Christ's death on the cross. Those in the first resurrection would include: 1) Christ was the firstfruits (1 Cor. 15:23). 2) The resurrection of the dead and living saints at the Rapture (1 Thess. 4:13-18). 3) Finally, the resurrection of the martyred tribulation saints at the second coming of Christ (Rev. 20:4-7). None of these individuals will be judged based upon their works, nor will they have any possibility of being thrown in the lake of fire (cf. Rev. 20:6 with Rev. 20:14). By the way, you never did respond to the many Scriptures I listed which show how a person is saved. Here they are again! ************************************ Are people saved based upon being worthy or are they saved through faith in Christ's atoning work on the cross? Consider the following Scriptures: 1) Acts 2:21 - "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’" 2) Acts 15:11 - "No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”" 3) Acts 16:30 - "He then brought them out and asked, ‘‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, ‘‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”" 4) Rom. 5:9 - "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!" 5) Rom. 10:9 - "That if you confess with your mouth, ‘‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." 6) Rom. 10:13 - " for, ‘‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”" 7) 1 Cor. 15:2 - "By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain." 8) Eph. 2:5 - "made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved." 9) Eph. 2:8 - "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast." 10) 2 Thess. 2:13 - "But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth." If you notice, not one of these verses says that we must be worthy of salvation, nor do they say that we can be worthy of salvation. Salvation is accomplished solely by and through Christ. We can't earn it! We can't be worthy of it! We can't buy it! It is a gift according to Rom. 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." It simply is not Biblical to say that God will judge us based upon our works, and if the good outweights the bad, we will be saved. Our salvation is through faith and grace alone and cannot be earned by us in anyway. ********************************************** Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | What is a Christian? | Luke 9:32 | JdthCstl | 39939
At the end of time, we will be judge by our deeds. Jesus came to blot out, our sins, and make us right with God. But if we do not follow the christian way of life, and go right on sinning, then when he returns, he will make us liable, and accountable for our sins. He will then Judge our sins, not forgive them.

"He will then Judge our sins, not forgive them. " Then why does He say : John 3:17 For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. 18 He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.] Jesus said the basis of His judgement is : John 5:24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life. Since Jesus is the Truth, and obidience to the good news is to believe it and disobeience is to reject it then yes Rom 2:6 For He will render to every man according to his works [justly, as his deeds deserve]: [Ps. 62:12.] 7 To those who by patient persistence in well-doing [springing from piety] seek [unseen but sure] glory and honor and [the eternal blessedness of] immortality, He will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and self-willed and disobedient to the Truth but responsive to wickedness, there will be indignation and wrath. 9 [And] there will be tribulation and anguish and calamity and constraint for every soul of man who [habitually] does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek (Gentile). But, Praise the Lord : Rom 8:1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, |

This is all true. But at judgement day you can not free yourself from sin by saying you believe in Christ. At the end of time if you are worthy of forgiveness he will forgive you, but if not he will sentence you. This time he is not paying the price. At judgement day the sinners are paying the price.

What do you mean by the end of time? Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. According to what you are saying even if you think one little thought or do one thing that is contrary to God's Holiness, which is a sin in God's eyes, even though you might not have known it was a sin, you are out, right; or do you make exceptions for your self? By the way, where does it say that sins will even be mentioned at the judgment day? Please enlighten, CDBJ |
