1 | Salvation is a gift to be accepted | Luke 6:46 | mark d seyler | 141296
Hi Angel, Anyone who claims salvation yet uses that as a license to sin is serving themself, not God, and shows by their life that they are not saved! Colossians tells us that the handwriting of the ordinances have been blotted out. There is now no law written against us, and where there is no law sin is not imputed. But that only applies to those who are now under grace. We are under grace because we are born again. We are born again because because God has given us rebirth. Hebrews tells us Jesus is the author of salvation to those who obey Him. The person who wants to sin with impunity has taken the name of the LORD, "Christian", in vain! The real Christian hates sin. The person who says that since they said the "sinner's prayer", and now they can sin all they want and God can't do anything is deluded. "Why do you call Me Lord, and not do the things I say?" The man at the wedding feast was not clothed in Christ's righteousness. We are saved by Christ's righteousness, not by good works as you claim! Either my salvation is entirely from Christ's righteousness imputed to me, or it is from my performence, which is by works. The Bible says grace, not works. Love in Christ, Mark |

2 | Salvation is a gift to be accepted | Luke 6:46 | Hank | 141305
Mark, having recently viewed your posts, I begin this response with a welcome to you. Indeed, the clarion call to salvation is one of God's grace and by no means of man's works! Man never achieves his salvation by his good works nor "loses" it by his bad. It is, as Paul points out in Ephesians 2:8,9, a gift of God's grace through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Any attempt to add works into God's plan of salvation is, whether we are willing to admit it or not, an attempt to elevate man into the position of being an instrument of his own salvation. Pagan religions teach this. The Christian religion decidely does not. The Bible teaches that salvation is solely of God. Man therefore can neither attain it nor maintain it by his works. --Hank
