1 | I'm skeptical | Luke 14:26 | seeking4truth | 101218
Thanks, George. Yes, the issue about calling no man "father" seems to be another point of contention, doesn't it? As is women keeping silent in the church. I am a skeptic, I will admit that. But I run into alot of "Bible-believing Christians" who, quite simply don't believe the Bible. Jesus said to call no man "father" and we do anyway. Paul said that women should keep silent in the church and I've never seen that exhortation put into practice. If we interpret the word "hate" as "to love less" then it becomes a sticky situation with God loving sin less or God loving divorce less or God loving Esau less. So I struggle with the fact that the Bible cannot be taken at face-value (it doesn't mean what it says). As soon as we open that Pandora's box, that the Bible doesn't mean what it says, then how are we ever to know what it DOES mean? Then it becomes one persons opinion against another and who is to say who is right? Anyway, yes, I am seeking truth. But I have trouble trusting something which people swear is without contradiction, even when the contradiction is as plain as the noses on our faces. And it cases of this sort, it seems like "Bible-believing Christians" pick and choose what parts they want to believe and what parts they don't. Here is another issue that I would seriously like an answer to: God says to love our enemies and to do good to those who spitefully use us. But He swears that He will destroy His enemies. Now I guess God is God but this certainly seems like a "do as I say, not as I do" approach. Any thoughts? seeking4truth |

Perhaps dear soul, you should consider changing your name. For from the tone of your note, you’re not seeking anything. You are stating! If you are serious, you should consider a "bible teaching" church. "Seek, and ye shall find. State, and you may reveal your ignorance." Ignorance may cause one to wind up in Hades, but in and of itself, ignorance is not a sin, and will not “send” anyone to Hell. Refusal of knowledge; now that’s a different story all together. All are ignorant in many ways. Is it a sin for one to refuse knowledge? No. Is it smart? You have correctly labeled some Christians, for as yourself, where the Word is concerned, many Christians are utterly ignorant with the exception of a few verses they have picked up here and there or, perhaps a passage or two they have half heartedly read or heard someone ignorantly quote. Are those people "ultimately" responsible for the condition of your immortal soul or anyone’s, other than their own? Is it possible that you may have read the verse I suggested? If so, what did it say? I believe it said something about the word “study.” How much of the Word have you “studied?” You may struggle with what “(YOU CALL,) the fact that the Bible cannot be taken at face-value (it doesn't mean what it says).” But, DEAR SOUL, I have got news for you, and anyone else who displays their ignorance by making such a statement; THE Word SAYS WHAT THE LORD MEANS AND MEANS EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS. Our ignorance of that fact and inability to interpret and apply Gods Word in its (entirety,) is not going to be an excuse when we stand before the judgment seat. Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, Dear soul, do you have any idea where the bible originated, what language or languages it was written in. Do you know anything concerning the interpretation of those languages? It would be a trivial task for even a young child who has regularly attended Sunday school to thoroughly explain the topics you have pointed out. I pray that you are not as you have portrayed in your note, for if you are, you would not listen. Yet there is still hope… For “all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, and He is not will in that anyone should parish." You; not I nor anyone else, are ultimately responsible for the eternal condition or your immortal soul. seeking4truth, my words may not be easy to swallow. They may stir your anger and wrath. But as medicine and treatment for the mortal body is often painful, so is truth. I’m not investing my time to tell you what you want to hear, or what you may agree with. Through my blessings, I am attempting to bring to light what you say you are seeking. It is now up to you. My prayer for you seeking4truth is that when truth is in front of you, you will recognize it. May His Grace allow your eyes to see, and heart to hear, and may He open your heart to take these strong words in the mending context they are intended. Exhorting In Christ George |

3 | George, do you believe? | Luke 14:26 | seeking4truth | 101378
Hi George, Thanks for your "exhortation in Christ." What I do know of the original Bible languages is that some of it is Hebrew (OT), some is Aramaic, and some is Greek (OT). Do I know any of these languages? No. I am doing well to understand English. :) Yes, George, I am IGNORANT. Thanks for reminding me. George, you state: "THE Word SAYS WHAT THE LORD MEANS AND MEANS EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS." Can I ask if you truly believe this? Here is the test from another one of my posts here: Jesus said: "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." - Mark 16:17,18 "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you." - Luke 10:19 So let me ask you, George, seeing as Jesus said what He means and means what He says, do you personally: 1. Cast out demons? 2. Speak with a new tongue? 3. Pick up serpents? 4. Drink poison without ill effect? 5. Heal the sick by the laying on of hands? 6. Tread on serpents and scorpions? 7. Exercise power over Satan continually (I think a valid practical demonstration of this would be the complete cessation of sin in one's life)? Believe me, George, if I believe the Bible, I know I will stand before one judgement seat or another. I have been reminded of it for 30 years now and your "exhortation" does nothing to further impress this warning upon my mind. Thanks anyway. But enough about me, my ignorance, and my lack of faith. How about you? Are you a true believer in Jesus Christ by HIS standards? Do you believe ALL of the Bible in this regard? Do you continually prove to the church and to the world that you are a believer in Jesus by demonstrating the signs that He Himself said would follow those who believe in Him? seeking4truth |

4 | George, do you believe? | Luke 14:26 | GeorJoy | 101387
Tell me friend where the Word says "ALL believers" shall do these things? I have faith. I have yet to cast a mountain into the sea though. But I am not going to let this send my soul to hell! There are many things that scripture speaks of that I personally do not understand. Do you, my friend “have” to understand the Word of God before you can accept it? If so, I should think that you are a very smart person, for I can’t say that I fully understand how the internet works or how voice or pictures are transmitted through wires and the air. I am fairly proficient when it comes to computers, but when it comes to the mechanics thereof, I am ignorant. I am very proficient when it comes to refrigeration. Are you? Do you know how your refrigerator produces cold to maintain your foods and beverages? For that matter, can you tell me how it is that cold keeps food from spoiling or how it is that this computer does what it does? My point is that if understanding came before acceptance, the human race would accept very little…. Then where would the internet be? Where would society itself be? What is the difference? When it comes to the eternal existence of our immortal souls, why are we so stubborn? So foolish? So down right HARD HEADED and utterly STUPID! I don’t claim to know all the answers when it comes to the LIVING Word! What I do know is that it is THE LIVING Word of God! There is no doubt in my mind that it is true! This, my dear friend is called “faith.” Through faith, I have received many answers to questions that I have not even formulated in my mind. Through lifes experiences and some limited biblical study, I have received answers to questions that I asked a lifetime ago. There are many scriptures that I do not understand, but I will tell you this; my Lord has never let me down when it comes to providing an answer to those questions that were the deepest in my heart and soul. Those answers were not always as speedily received as I would have liked them to be, but they always came. You seem to be expecting perfection. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; When it comes to eternity, one day many will look back and marvel that they were so down right stupid, BUT it is not too late… Give up your stubbornness and read and heed the first verse I recommended. Meanwhile dear soul, look up Websters definition of the word “reprobate” and pray for all who are given over to it. Exhorting in Christ George |

6 | George, do you believe? | Luke 14:26 | GeorJoy | 101441
I thank you for your gentle rebuke. However... Dear Brother, if you call this less than gentle, then you don't know harsh, for how can one be a believer if he does not believe in the word of Him whom he profess' belief. This is to call our Savior a liar and to fool ones self. I wonder how many who witnessed Christ speaking to the Scribes and Pharisees thought his statements less than gentle. "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites... Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. But woe unto you, Pharisees! Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them." How many in this forum would come down heavy on another who used such language as this? I make no appologies for striving to live by, witness by, and boldly state the Word in its unleavened form. My prayer is that by His will, grace and guidance we should all strive to thus. Exhorting in Christ George |
