Big Jim: Having made two posts, I read you note to Ray. I see you have some knowledge beyond that of basic Bible. So I will address you question somewhat different than some others. I agree with Morant61, that not enough information is supplied by you, to make a really scriptual answer. I also would say to such a person in thes situation to go to their pastor as Tim did as well. I do feel that wit all the Bible wisdom in this collective froum there should be a wider scope of Scriptual views. May I say as having been a pastor, I did not find doing marriages a big thrill. I did turn down as many as I married. If a couple came to me and either were divorced, and their divorced mate was unmarried, I insisted they stop and go back and work at rebuilding their marriage. I would not marry anyone who's Christian spouse was still able to reconcile. No matter what the reason there is always hope as long as neither party has remarried. If all ministers followed this there would be a very large percentage who reconciled! I do have deep compassion for divorced Christians. I also know second marriages have a higher rate of failure than you might think, about 65 percent. If there are children involved and a blended family the odds are even higher of failing. This is Christian marriages I am refering to. Are you free to marry a divorced Christian woman? Is her ex husband still unmarried? If so then stop and KNOW the reason for the divorce. Talk to the ex husband, if there is not serious Biblical flaws in the previous marriage then you need leave. I hope this helps. justme |
