1 | Can we be baptized with the Holy Ghost? | Matt 3:11 | kalos | 173120 | ||
What God does when He saves a soul. Is it enough? Is there anything we need that is not included in our salvation, not provided for in the atonement? 'What God actually does when He saves a soul. '1. He loves to the uttermost. '2. He purposes to keep in spite of everything. '3. He intends to present us faultless before Himself. '4. His Son ever lives to make intercession to keep us saved. '5. His Spirit has placed us into the Body of Christ. '6. His Spirit has sealed us until the day of redemption.' * After doing all this and more for us when we are saved, does anyone think God has not done enough? All my life I've heard people speak of salvation as if it were nothing, as if emotional experiences were the real thing, as if Holy Ghost goosebumps were more to be desired than abiding in Christ and growing in Him. ____________________ *Source: Charles Caldwell Ryrie, The Ryrie Study Bible, Moody Press, 1976, 1978 |

Lionheart: I thought perhaps you would be interested in the following quote. Grace to you, Kalos Source: http://archive.christianwomentoday.com/ spiritfilledlife.html 'Do not depend upon feelings. The promise of God's Word, not our feelings, is our authority. The Christian lives by faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God Himself and His Word. This train diagram [see the website listed below] illustrates the relationship between fact (God and His Word), faith (our trust in God and His Word), and feeling (the result of our faith and obedience) (John 14:21).' [In the train diagram, Fact is the engine that pulls the train. Faith is the car directly behind Fact (the engine). At the very end of the train is the caboose, which is Feeling.] 'The train will run with or without the caboose [Feeling]. However, it would be futile to attempt to pull the train by the caboose. In the same way, we, as Christians, do not depend upon feelings or emotions, but we place our faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God and the promises of His Word.' ____________________ Source: Have You Made the Wonderful Discovery of the Spirit-Filled Life? http://archive.christianwomentoday.com/ spiritfilledlife.html |

The text I quoted appeared originally in a booklet by Campus Crusade for Christ. At the following website, do a search for "Spirit-filled life": www.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/ Grace to you, Kalos ____________________ For a balanced view of the slogan "Fact! Faith! Feeling!"', see a "corrective explanation" written by John Piper. It is available at: www.desiringgod.org/library/ fresh_words/2002/082802.html |
