1 | Can we be baptized with the Holy Ghost? | Matt 3:11 | kalos | 173152
What is the "full gospel"? One hears a lot of talk about the "full gospel". The implication is that some may have a partial gospel while others may have a half gospel, but only an elite few are blessed with knowing the "full gospel." But the Word of God alone defines the full gospel. It is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. "Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Cor 15:1-4 (NASB) There you have it. The Gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, according to the scriptures. This is the full gospel. Grace to you, Kalos |

Kalos, Are you saying that the promise of the Holy Spirit, aka the Comforter (John 14:26), The Spirit of Truth (14:17), who is literally the Spirit of Christ (2 Cor 3:17), is not a part of that full gospel? Nancy |

Nancy: Being filled with the Spirit is an essential part of walking in Christ. Yet where does Scripture actually call this the "full gospel"? Scripture, as I've pointed out, defines the gospel as the death, burial and resurrection of Christ according to the Scriptures. Let us not add to nor take away from the words of this Book. I'm not denying the reality of the Spirit in the believer's life. I am merely stressing that we need to use biblical language to express biblical truth. The very WORDS of Scripture are inspired. Every word is important. I believe that all nine gifts of the Spirit, including tongues, are still in operation today and that none have ceased. "Be filled with the Spirit" is a command that is still binding today. I thought your were responding to the question about being baptized in the Spirit when you were comparing it to the full gospel term. Very Good.
