1 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | LisaMarie | 23699
That is entirely unfair, Tim. You can't define a cult based on Christian terms. Many non Christians believe US to be a cult. Yes many cults have charismatic leaders but that is NOT what defines them. Cults are defined by "separatism" and extreme faith. Obsessive beliefs. Separatism meaning they withdraw from the world as a whole. Communal living as a way to protect their fragile and fanatical belief systems from external influence which may poke holes in their faith. Jim Jones founded a cult and he LOVED God. The Hale Bop people were a cult. Separatism, castration and suicide. You can't label people a cult because they don't believe Jesus is Lord. Remember Christians are still being killed today. Martyred for Christ. Not by cults. By governmental fanatic, by religious fanatics and even by each other. Please, just let it go. Lisa |

I suppose you are technically correct. Tim probably should have said that the ultimate test of "the spirit of antichrist" (not "cult") is saying who Jesus is (1 John 4:1-3). Steve |

3 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | LisaMarie | 23704
Indeed!!! Now that I will agree to. For myself, I don't think the antichrist will come to power through a small fanatical cult but through a major religion of some kind.
4 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | srbaegon | 23705
But as Tim has already stated with reference to 1 John 2:22, if someone denies the person of Jesus Christ (i.e. who He is in His entirety) that one is a liar and is of antichrist. Basically, Tim and I are saying the same things. Baha'i and it's followers are wrong. Steve |

5 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | LisaMarie | 23709
You can disagree with their faith, but my issue was - lack of faith in Christ doesn't make them a cult or their leader the antichrist, if that's what you two are implying. OF the antichrist may mean you're implying their faith is driven by the prince of lies? Is that what you're saying? Mmmmm, that IS something to ponder! curiouser and curiouser. Do you believe in demonic influence? I'm always surprised by the number of people who believe the Bible IS truth, yet disbelieve in demons. Lisa |

6 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | Brian.g | 23710
Lisa I agree with Tim when he said a Christian group, who does not fully accept Christ is a cult. But, the key word here is Christian. I also believe inter-denominational groups who don't even require belief in God, who hold regular religious services (or get-togethers) - are also cults. Muslim, Jew, etc - are not cults. Brian |

Greetings Brian! Thanks for the support! No one likes the term cult because of it's negative connotations! The real issue though is what they believe about Christ. So, as you pointed out, there are other religions which would not be considered cults, but they are false. Whether cult or false religion, we need to present Christ to them, which is why I pressed the issue to begin with! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
