Visitors remove their shoes before they enter the Lotus Temple. There are no statues. A person who had visited the Lotus Temple related the experience to me. He was not Baha'i. He was very impressed with the serenity within, very conducive to worship of the One True God. There is nothing commercial about it, It is a place of worship.
