1 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | LisaMarie | 24212
Joe, I'm not sure if you're teasing me or not?? Acts is one of my fave chapters! Dreadful? I'd be glaring in your general direction right now, but I don't happen to know where that is. I agree that the truth must be known. I'm just not good at the confrontation part. Maybe that's why the Good Lord has brought me here to you and Tim! Oh dear. |

Careful, Lisa...I am starting to like you! :) When I say "confrontational," I do not necessarily mean screaming and pointing one's finger in another's face and calling it evangelism (though I am sure that such things may be called for at times). However, one cannot grasp one's need for a savior unless they have a clear understanding of what it is they need saving FROM. Jesus is not some cosmic therapist here to see that we are walking in ignorant bliss. Jesus came for the purpose of being a sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, a complete and accurate gospel message needs to point out to the person his/her sin nature and their offense against a holy God, a situation from which they cannot rescue themselves. It is only after we realize that Christ died to save sinners from a justly-deserved Hell that we stop trusting in our own futile efforts and start relying on his completed work 2000 years ago. Confrontation does not mean nastiness, but it does require honesty that may or may not be well-received. --Joe! |

3 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | LisaMarie | 24439
Greetings again Brother Joe, I understand entirely about the confrontational evangelism not being agressive. And I understand about sometimes it needs to be. However, to use current teen terminology - I suck at it. Thus, I dislike it. I don't think it's wrong. I just can't do it. I've tried. I think those poor souls must have turned athiest after my lame attempt. (kidding!) My pastor once gave me a pep talk about it. That I should feel I'd failed. I just needed to pray for these people. Pray that the Lord opens their hearts. Maybe we could all pray for Ross today. I got a wonderful book on prayer and intercession that gave me many interesting ways to help people. My behind the lines work. Prayer walking a neighborhood. Slipping gospel passages written on bits of paper into peoples shoes. [Joe has fallen out of his chair laughing now...] You fellas be the front line. I'll run along behind with a plate of cookies to keep up your strength. Be well, Lisa |

Personal Note .............................. Dear Lisa, I am just finishing a book by Steve Sjorgenson (mispelled) called "Conspiracy of Kindness". It is an excellent little book, and has terriffic practical ideas for easy yet effective evangelism for people like yourself who are "confrontational evangelism" challenged :) |
