1 | Rapture - Bodies or souls disappear? | Matt 24:27 | BenK | 104311 | ||
Guess I'm not the only dummy around. I also have Van Kampen's writing and was,naturally, pleased to find someone who was understanding the scriptures to say the same thing they were saying to me. I'm 70 years old and, after many years of asking preachers, talk show hosts, and teachers to show me, scripturally, where I was in error, I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that most hold their eschatological postions based on what they have always heard. I have many times heard Dr. Walter Martin, the former "Bible answer man", try to show folks that Jesus said "After the tribulation", however, since Dr. Martin died, the Bible answer man is now teaching pre-trib. Oh, well, I know that WHEN Christ returns is not as important as the fact that He will, in God's time. It does bother me though just to think about how confused the church will be when they find themselves in the great tribulation period and won't know what is next. Thanks again for your response, Ben |

BenK: Reading your note I felt to add something to pehaps add a little to the mix. The current Bible Answer Man, Hank, is not leaning to a pre-trib postotion. Hank has gone so far as to have sever who expond a post-trib view point. However I do not agree with all hank or Walter Martin said. I have some concerns in the current program that is so concerned with spending more on fund raising than most any other ministry, and CRI's questionable money handeling, that was brought to light in Christianity Today a few months ago. After studing and hearing all this for pre-trib belief, I came to a conclusion myself. I take Matthew chapter 24 and 25. I take the other sceiptures and I see how they fit into what Jesus said. My understanding is that we are to be ready, stay alert, and that only the Father Yahweh knows when Jesus will return. Over and ober Jesus said there will be signs and when we think it's about to happen, Jesus says "not yet". I think this pops the fictional "Left Behind" Books (that seems to go on and on) with little hot air to go on. I understand we are to live our life in readiness, and and be busy living the gift of life we have been given. When people are scared into believing in Jesus because the want hell insurance that is not presenting the Gospel as far as I can understand what Scripture teaches. There is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear, so how can one who fears love God? I think this is still a solid ground on which we can depend on. Any thoughts? Blessings and Peace BenK. justme |

Justme, I appreciate your comments. I think you have the right idea....NO FEAR. I used to tell the folks in my home bible study to "Pray for PRE, and prepare for post". I would love to think I was wrong about the "rapture", however, Jesus said "After the Tribulation" and that's good enough for me. That's my thoughts, Ben |
