1 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157600
thanks for the response kalos, aside from the opinions of interpreters, isnt it plausible that the antichrist is not necessarily one man but a nation or power structure? or even a system? as when stated in revelations 1316-17 that those who would not recieve the mark... now to have a "mark" in your forehead or right hand could this not symbolize concurrence with, or support of a system, or philsophy? as in your forehead could mean, to "believe" and right hand, to "uphold"? i know there are many folds to the scriptures, as things tend to cycle back around as said in ecclesiastes 1:9 "the thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." also note that it says in revelations 13:18, " let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man," does not necessarily mean an individual man, as the number six also signifies the day in which man was made. no contention, just curiousity; as i have always been one to seek, and not follow. oominous.

Funny how a certain sense of foreboding comes upon me when I address you as "Ominous." .... I suppose we'll have to set aside "the opinions of interpreters" and go it alone, will we? That disturbs me somewhat. To cast away the insights of hosts of godly men who have gone before us, I mean. Something there is about this idea that seems brash and foolish. .... And perhaps I've been too tame in my seeking and following. I'm accustomed to seek the truth and when when it is found, to follow it as best I can. But you, having "always been one to seek and not follow" present a curious view to me. Can it be explained why anyone would seek anything, especially truth, with no intention to follow it if it be found? ..... Now I haven't yet addressed this antichrist proposition. And I don't think I will. Why should I? In offering a response, I should need to consult the "opinions of interpreters" but you reject those as being of little or no value. I could, of course, inject my own "opinions of interpretation," but I delude myself if I think they would be of any value to you, since you get your spiritual insights by special revelation. So, where does that leave the dangling question about the nature and composition of the antichrist? In your hands, I suppose. You could enlighten the Forum about the antichrist in accordance with your special revelation about which you write in your user profile. You could. But please don't. We probably wouldn't understand a word of it anyway, since we, or indeed most of us, poor mortals of the Forum claim no private, special revelation from God. We are stuck with only the Book He wrote and has made available to His followers, and we must study it diligently and dig out those nuggets of truth. Still and all, most of us, including this writer, are thankful to God for the Scriptures and for the hosts of His followers who have gone before us whose keen spiritual insights continue to shed much light to us in our time. --Hank

you obviously only get what you want to get out of posts on this forum! do you lack simple comprehension? you blow YOUR horn loud enough to drown out every one else. i was not dismissing anything that interpreters of times past have said, but as you should know, man can only observe what happens in his lifetime! just as daniel couldn't fully understand his visions because they had not been played out yet! and besides, i have adressed you personally at least twice with no response, it seems you only try to stab people when their back is turned to you. but i'm not suprised, it seems you dont process most of what you read! ominous

Greetings again, I now one have a group of verses that is jumping off of the page at me after I read you post. James 3:1-10 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter judgment. [2] For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well. [3] Now if we put the bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, we direct their entire body as well. [4] Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder, wherever the inclination of the pilot desires. [5] So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! [6] And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. [7] For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by the human race. [8] But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. [9] With it we bless our Lord and Father; and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; [10] from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. Please ease up a little I think it would be better for all of us. If both of you would just put the blame on me and I will back off for a while. Thank you, and have a nice day, CDBJ |
