What verse did she use to support that "praise comes before knowledge"? How can one praise One whom one does not know? If we are wrong about what God is like, if we are wrong about what His salvation entails, how can we praise Him rightly? In other words, I disagree with your friend at work. Let's take a look at how important knowledge is in the Scriptures. First of all, is "praise" what comes before knowledge? "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction." --Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." --Proverbs 9:10 "But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine." --Titus 2:1 "Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you." --1 Timothy 4:16 "Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge," --2 Peter 1:5 "Praise the LORD in song, for He has done excellent things; Let this be known throughout the earth." --Isaiah 12:5 Our praise to God is based on the knowledge of who He is and what He has done for us. Knowledge comes before praise, but knowledge of God should always lead to praise! --Joe! |

Hello, Angel: I think that when we share with others His works we are indeed glorifying and worshiping Him. I think the best place to examine the concept of direct praise to God is in the Psalms. Try reading some of the psalms that use the word "praise" over and over again. You will see that along with those calls to praise God we have a revelation of WHY he should be praised. His character and His deeds are perfect and worthy of praise, and it is our knowledge of them which spurs us to open our mouths in praise and thanksgiving. Glad I could help you honor God more! --Joe! |

Hi Joe thx for reply-I read the psalms often my favorite is 139. I guess what is on my mind is that it seems to me we study what God has done and what He will do but we don't talk much about what He is doing today except as it relates to prophesy. I think He's still working with us individually and i'd like to hear more about that too. in Him angel1 | ||||||
