1 | purgatory is it true? | Matt 22:32 | Emmaus | 38750
EdB, Sorry to have disturbed your sleep last night. I must go out tonight. But please go to bed tonight meditating on this passage from Luke 7 and 8: 37: And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, 38: and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 39: Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner." 40: And Jesus answering said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." And he answered, "What is it, Teacher?" 41: "A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42: When they could not pay, he forgave them both. Now which of them will love him more?" 43: Simon answered, "The one, I suppose, to whom he forgave more." And he said to him, "You have judged rightly." 44: Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house, you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45: You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. 46: You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. 47: Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." 48: And he said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." 49: Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, "Who is this, who even forgives sins?" 50: And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." 1: Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, 2: and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Mag'dalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3: and Joan'na, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means. 2 | purgatory is it true? | Matt 22:32 | EdB | 38932
Emmaus I pondered this all day. If you are giving me this passage to show works accompany faith, your preaching to the choir (I agree). I think I even understand the faith part of penitence I just don't understand the what appears to be the works parts. To me it appears that by being told to say the rosary 10 times for lying and 50 times for committing fornication that there has been a value judgement made. Fornication is worst than lying, then the penitence must be worst. Yet your saying penitence in not punishment but rather a reinforcement of grace through faith. However the fact that one carries a more demanding reinforcement seems to void that claim. Penitence then more correctly appears to be punishment in an effort to provide a sort of recompense for the sin. EdB |

3 | purgatory is it true? | Matt 22:32 | Devana | 38952
There is no such thing as purgatory. If there was a purgatory, why would Jesus have to come back to this world. The bible say in Malachi 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven: and all the proud yea, and all thay do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up saith the Lord of hosts, that shall leave them neither root nor branch. This tell me that when the fire comes you will simply burn till you become ashes. We serve a God of love, not a God that will have people burning up forever. That is not love. 2 Thessalonians 1:8,9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; This is saying that when Jesus comes to claim His people, and you are found unworthy or not known to God, you will not have the opportunity to repent. Your chances are up. Your life is over forever. You will be burnt to a stubble. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Satan can destroy your soul. He can destroy you with his version of the biblical trues. One being there is a purgatory and believe me he has plenty of other. Keep studing, for it says in: 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. God's people will "Rightly divide the Word of Truth" which is God Holy Word, but you have plenty of people out there not studying and giving there opinions. This is "Rightly dividing the word of Satan." Challenge everyone and if it can't be proven by the Word of God, then don't believe it. The Holy Spirit will show you all truth, but the error He cannot deal with. So just pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you, He will step in right on time. If I can be of more help, please let me know. I am one that if I can't show you in scripture, I will not answer until I can. Be Blessed |
