1 | should I avoid the appearance of evil? | Matt 18:6 | Hank | 126459
Theo-Minor: Congratulations! Having read thousands of posts on this Forum, I nominate this one of yours as being among the top for unadulterated hogwash. As one who claims (in your user profile) to be well versed in Scripture, you are obviously in need of remedial versing. Trashy theories such as the one you have advanced have no place on a Christian forum. The best thing that can be said of a post like this is that it is a disgrace. So absurd and outrageous is it that it merits no further response. The thread will be restricted shortly, and any further posts of this stripe will not be tolerated and will be reported as abusive use of this Bible forum. --Hank
2 | Am I wrong? | Matt 18:6 | Stultis the Fool | 126463
Hank... Interesting methodology. Is this how everyone who is presumed wrong is taught the truth? I am re-posting a reply I made to another part of this thread, and adding a couple questions: "I would like to add that my posts to this subject do NOT advocate the taking of the union of marriage lightly... On the other hand, I certainly imply that we do not take seriously enough the act of intercourse. Here it is dismissed as sin quite casually, but I believe the scriptures show that the implications of the act are much more far-reaching then some would like to admit." I assume you can refute what is being posted here with some form of specific scripture. Am I wrong? |

3 | Am I wrong? | Matt 18:6 | Searcher56 | 126488
Sometime we believe it is truth ... sometimes it is tradition, even centuries old ... other times it is trends. But if it is not truth, it is trash. Theo-Minor has been proven wrong. One is called husband and wife BEFORE they have sex. |

4 | Am I wrong? | Matt 18:6 | Theo-Minor | 126491
That is just not the case. There are plenty of examples of a man going in to a woman, and taking her, and she being his wife. Your comment is motivated by opinion. It is not factual. Further, it doesn't address things like concubines. Theo-Minor |

5 | Am I wrong? | Matt 18:6 | Searcher56 | 126493
Show me ONE example of a man going in to a woman, and taking her, and (then) she being his wife. |

6 | Am I wrong? | Matt 18:6 | Country Girl | 126551
I don't remember an actual example of this being done with names, places or scripture. All I can do is quote from God's word: Ex 22:16 "If a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the bride-price of virgins. Sometimes it's difficult if not impossible to understand God's wisdom. The bottom line is "We just say Yessir." Blessings to you. |
