1 | Did Jesus ever drink wine? | Matt 11:19 | hopalong | 215919
Dear Tim, the water in the time of Our Lord was tainted, and for safety sake was mixed with wine. However, undiluted wine(taken in moderation) was a blessing to the health of the people. In fact, it had the the the the the capacity to make the heart merry. However, the sin of drukeness is worthy of etenal damnation and all who disregard God's admonition will suffer for their rebellion. Hopalong |

Greetings Hopalong! Do you have an historical source that states that undiluted wine was commonly used and an accepted practice? At least according to the sources in Geisler's article, it was a practice that was very much looked down upon. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

4 | Did Jesus ever drink wine? | Matt 11:19 | Morant61 | 215926
Greetings Hopalong! Thanks for the link! The author, though differing on the quality of watered down wines, does agree though that it was a normal practice to dilute the wine before drinking it. He simply disagrees with some of the ratio's cited, thinking that 2 or 3 to 1 was probably the norm. So, this article would support, not contradict, that wine was normally diluted with water.
