1 | "Least in the kingdom of God"? | Matt 11:11 | ralph2 | 123160
Just a comment on Acts 2:34. See Matt 22:43,44 for further clarification. David calls "my Lord" Jesus, that is not to say "my LORD" (the first lord) that refers to Yahweh, but rather the latter "lord." I have to agree with VictorA on this one. 1 Cor 15: 23, in defending the resurrection hope, Paul refers to the Christ as the firstfruits, and to those who belong to him. These are the "sons of God" whose revealing "creation" (the rest of humanity) eagerly awaits in order to be set free from God's enemy death. (1 Cor 15:24-26) If humans will not live forever on earth, then God's purpose for the earth has been prevented by Satan. I refuse to believe that, and I encourage all to rethink this fundamental truth as they study the Bible! (Isaiah 55:11) Your comments make me interested to see what you think. Try not to let religious bigots like Emmaus influence you. From reading others of his posting, he appears critical of everyone that disagrees with him. Look forward to hearing from you. |

Ralph, I wish you had filled out your profile so I'd know whom I am addressing. For now: I would first encourage you to re-consider your attitude towards other people's opinion on this forum, and especially to try to refrain from such disrespectful comments aimed at anybody in particular, please. Emmaus and I have discussed this issue peacefully and in Christian love; he is my brother in Christ whom I have much respect for. His posts reflect consideration for my opinion as well. Nevertheless he has the right to disagree with me, or anyone, just as well as you do. It is not a sign of any "religious bigotry" to be a Catholic. I offer you reading into Romans 14: "Do not let what you consider good to be spoken of as evil." (Rom 14:16) Thank you for your exceptional concern about my spiritual walk, but as for me, the Lord is my Shepherd; He loves me so much that He gave His life for me, and He has already defeated even the powers of hell. So I do not question whether He is able or willing to protect me from going astray: He leads me on the paths of His righteousness for His Name's sake. "Just a comment on Acts 2:34. See Matt 22:43,44 for further clarification. David calls "my Lord" Jesus, that is not to say "my LORD" (the first lord) that refers to Yahweh, but rather the latter "lord." " This I understand. But David uses 'Adonay' in the original passage (Psalm 110:1), and the Hebrew word was indeed spoken in place of Yahweh in Jewish display of reverence. The Deity of Jesus cannot be questioned: I could quote thousands of passages but I'll only give you two now: Isa 9:6: "For to us a child is born.. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, AlMIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, Prince of Peace"; Phil 2:5-6: "...Christ Jesus: Who, being IN VERY NATURE GOD..." "I have to agree with VictorA on this one. 1Cor 15: 23, in defending the resurrection hope, Paul refers to the Christ as the firstfruits, and to those who belong to him.... These are the "sons of God" whose revealing "creation" (the rest of humanity) eagerly awaits in order to be set free from God's enemy death. (1 Cor 15:24-26)" If I correctly understand the passage, it talks about only two "groups": one is Jesus ALONE, and the next is the ones who believe in Him. See Col 1:18, Acts 26:23, or Rev 1:5. Where exactly does the Bible say that some people will become rulers over the world while others will be placed on earth to fulfill their creation? Jesus said He would (alone) separate the 'good people' from the 'bad ones'; the 'good' -'those who belong to Him'- will get to His kingdom (share in His glory, etc), while the 'bad' will be cast out into the darkness. ("He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left." Matt 25:33) The term 'sons of God' usually refers to godly people in general. "If humans will not live forever on earth, then God's purpose for the earth has been prevented by Satan. I refuse to believe that, and I encourage all to rethink this fundamental truth as they study the Bible! (Isaiah 55:11)" I never said that humans will not live forever on earth. I just say that the ones who belong to Him will be like Him, for they will see Him as He is (1John 3:2)... And that He will create new heavens and a new earth, so the old things will not be remembered (Isaiah 65:17). Personally I prefer to keep things simple, especially when it gets to Scripture-study. The Word of God is not to be overcomplicated, it speaks for itself. But you are of course allowed to disagree. Greetings, Zsuzsi |

3 | "Least in the kingdom of God"? | Matt 11:11 | ralph2 | 123210
Did you notice that no one sent Emmaus a note to back off the JW rhetoric? I ask a simple three-part question: If Adam did not sin, how long would he have lived? What would the earth look like if sin had not entered the world? What does this tell you about God's original purpose for the earth? Nothing could be more fundamental, uncomplicated or beautiful to ponder for intelligent humans. As for as Isaiah 9:6, I am not familiar with the questionable translation that includes "Almighty" rather than the correct "mighty." Phillipians 2:5,6 speaks for itself in that Paul encourages us to have Jesus' humble attitude - not to grasp at something that does not belong to us, but to submit ourselves to the only true, invisible God, and He will exalt us. Yahweh is God "alone," "the invisible one," "the Most High," and Jesus is the "son the God" or "son of the Most High." (Psalm 83:18; Luke 1:32; 1 Tim 1:17; John 1:18, etc. etc.) That's so simple even a child can understand it. Think of the great teacher Jesus Christ, using illustration after illustration to speak with the Jews. As a patriarchal society, would he use the relationship of father and son to convey the equality of God and Jesus? And what of the holy spirit? John says there are three witness-bearers: the water, the blood, and the spirit. The spirit a person, even God, grouped with two things important to true worship? "You originate with God, little children, and you have conquered those persons, because he that is in union with you is greater than he that is in union with the world. They originate with the world; that is why they speak what proceeds from the world and the world listens to them. We originate with God. He that gains the knowledge of God listens to us; he that does not originate with God does not listen to us. This is how we take note of the inspired expression of truth and the inspired expression of error. (1 John 4:4-6) Friendship with the world is enmity with God, yet many popular "Christian" ministers consult with world rulers. Jesus said of his disciples: "They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world. Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:16,17) Find the people that "are no part of the world" and its divisive political wars, and you will find those 'sanctified (set apart for sacred service) by the truth.' That is, you will find the truth and it will set you free from the slavitude of false religion. Please ignore everything after the first paragraph, until you have given your response to the three simple questions. If you care to address anything else, please do so directly, for example, "This cannot be the case because . . ." For the sake of honest discussion, you may want to respond to me before reading the numerous other comments that the above facts will evoke. May you love for God and the truth motivate you in all things. Sincerely. |

4 | God and gods? | Matt 11:11 | Morant61 | 123211
Greetings Ralph2! From your post, I take it that you are a Jehovah's witness. The entire doctrine of the JW's specifically contradicts Jehovah's own words. Consider this quote from another of my posts: ************************************ Because Jehovah's Witnesses are so set on avoiding the Biblical teaching that Jesus is God in the flesh, they have mistranslated John 1:1. But, in doing so, they have created a false doctrine which says that there is more than one God. Is. 43:10 is a clear statement. There isn't anything unclear about it. There isn't any controversy about it. It simply says that there are not any other gods. Jehovah is the only God. Now, John 1:1 says that Jesus is God. Therefore, Jesus must be Jehovah. Just out of curiosity, how does the NWT translate Is. 43:10? I also found it interesting the Is. 43:11 also says that there is no other savior. Yet, consider the following verses where Jesus is called our savior. Luke 2:11 - "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." John 4:42 - "They said to the woman, ??We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.?" Acts 5:31 - "God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel." There are more, but especially Titus 2:13 where we are informed that Jesus is both God and Savior. "while we wait for the blessed hope?the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ," We can discuss later the relationship between God the Father and God the Son. But, the first step is to confront the fact that the NWT is teaching a false doctrine in John 1:1. Jesus cannot be another god in addition to Jehovah because Jehovah Himself said in Is. 43:10 that there are no other gods besides Him. So, my simple question to you my friend is this: Did He or did He not say in Is. 43:10 that there is no other god besides Him? If He did, then how can Jesus be another god? ************************************* I would urge you to get away from these false teachings my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran Those on this forum do not accept the teachings of this cult. |

5 | God and gods? | Matt 11:11 | ralph2 | 123213
Faith is not a possession of all men. The nation of Israel, as a whole, lacked faith by putting their trust in nobles, alliances with pagan nations, and even false gods. Christendom today was aptly prefigured by faithless Jews that abandoned the very God that bought them with a price from bondage to Egypt. The price God has paid with the blood of his son far outweighs his prior generosity, and I hope you will not follow the path of the majority that say "Lord, Lord" but do not do the will of the Father. You must have faith that God's Kingdom will come, His will is going to be done on earth soon. Sincerely. |

So now my curiostiy is aroused by reading all these posts, yours, Tim's and others. Do you or do you not acknowledge and confirm the full deity of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of this world in whom is the ONLY way of getting out of this world and go Home to Heaven? Simple question? Simple answer needed? I pray that you can answer and come on Home to your Father in Heaven. God bless. --Rowdy |

7 | God and gods? | Matt 11:11 | ralph2 | 123222
I believe just as the inspired word of God states, Jesus reflected the glory of the invisible God to the fullest extent that a perfect man could, the way that Adam was created to do. Jesus proved Satan a liar, vindicated God's sovereignty, and shared in the sanctification of his holy name by his sinless life. Secondarily, he bought us back from the slavery to sin that Adam sold us, so that all those following his steps closely can have the life God purposed for Adam and his offspring. Of course, now Jesus sits at the right hand of God and has been given all authority on heaven and earth until the Messianic Kingdom brings to nothing all of God's enemies. Then he will give that authority back to its rightful owner, the Almighty Jehovah God, and continue subject to his Creator as the perfect example of faith and love through his perfect obedience. I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I know my head Jesus would approve as he takes the lead by his submission to his head, God. |
