Bible Note: following him: While I'm not unaware that your post to which this is a response has been directed to Tim, and Tim will no doubt respond to it also, I have something to say to you and to the Forum at large. I note that you have been an active Forum user for less than two months, have entered 58 posts to date, and that your user profile contains no background information whatever about you. Tim, I, and a small number of active users have been active members of this Forum since very near its beginning and we have seen and attempted to interact with a vast assortment of users -- agnostics, atheists, New Agers, Mormons, Oneness Pentecostals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Muslims, liberals and conservatives, Calvinists and Arminians. We have seen posts that promulgated doctrines of grace and doctrines of works, believers' baptism and baptismal regeneration, the eternal security of the believer and "losing" one's salvation by sins of omission or commission -- all these views and more have found their way at one time or another to the pages of this Forum. The Lockman Foundation has established certain guidelines to be followed by users of this web site which they own -- parameters or boundaries, if you will, beyond which users are not permitted to travel, and if they choose to go outside of those established boundaries, they will not be permitted to continue to use the Forum as a vehicle with which to soap box their highly unorthodox, heretical, or cultist views. The original aim and purpose for which this Forum came into being was, as its name implies, to be a Study Bible Forum, a place where Christians and other sincere inquirers could come together, ask and answer questions about the Bible, where babes in Christ could learn from mature Christian believers, and mature Christians could gain deeper insights from one another. The Forum was never designed to be a platform for pushing denominational biases or cultism, or for "converting" a cultist and certainly not for coddling him or abetting him in his attempt to mislead others. This medium should not be viewed, in my judgment, as the ideal medium for ministering to cult members. Ministering to those who have been taken in by cults is a job for one who is specially trained in this difficult field and is best conducted one-on-one, eyeball-to-eyeball, not on an internet forum. ...... The cultists do sneak on this Forum from time to time, and by "sneak on" I mean this: They typically do not bother to fill in anything in their user profile and more often than not they reveal their orientation by degrees, generally not in the first few posts but later down the line. We older heads spot them sooner or later, warn them of their violation of Forum guidelines, and inform Lockman that we have a problem user who is violating the guidelines. Lockman handles it from there. It is no secret that scores of offenders over the years have lost their privilege to post to this Forum. I trust that you now have a fuller comprehension of the problem which you have addressed. May I urge you to fill in your user profile? You can access the area by clicking on your user name in any of your posts. Both Tim and I have user profiles and they will give you some idea of the kinds of information that will be helpful to other users in responding to your posts. It's good to have you on the Forum. --Hank |
