1 | Should Christians practice nonresistance | Lev 26:6 | kalos | 15894
Thanks, Joe, for sharing the comment by D. James Kennedy. He is well worth listening to. His comment is right on target. Note also that the following was posted on the forum on 03-12-2001 (see the question "Does Bible support capital punishment?"). "What I WOULD like to know is: does the Bible support prison systems as a means of punishment? Is there anything in the Mosaic law that establishes long prison sentences or incarceration as punishment for crimes committed? What I do see in the Law is restitution, monetary and otherwise, exile, and execution as punishments -- not imprisonment." |

Could you make this a seperate thread? It seems to be veering off the original question, but it is of definate interest, and I think deserves its own thread.

Greetings to you all who have participated in this thread of "nonresistance"! Thank you, and speaking as the one who started this thread in the first place, I appreciate your comments and suggestions! It seems that there are those who support nonresistance in the way that the Anabaptists/Mennonites apply it, and those who only apply it personally, etc., etc. I appreciate your comments and you have proven to be a good influence in your many comments. However, this thread has taken on a "whole new" twist, even questioning such things as capital punishment, abortion, murder, etc, etc., and has gotten Way off the original topic that I had originally envisioned for this thread. With this post, I sincerely express my appreciation for your contributions but I believe that the time has came and passed for us to close this thread and move on to others. With this post I bring this thread to a close. Thank you! Nolan |
