1 | Which day is number seven? | Ex 20:10 | JWeaver | 164573
Many countries have monday as the first day. History shows no record of exactly which day is the first or seventh. We do know that the seventh day is the Biblical last day. We don't know which is the first? Man named the days but we can only guess at the beginning and ending. I would love to hear and comments. |

No, this is not true. If you look at languages and cultures around the world, almost every one of which I am aware lists Sunday as the first day. In Spanish, for example, the seventh day of the week, which in English is Saturday, is "Sabado," or Sabbath. Now, why do you suppose that is, if it isn't to indicate something?

I think that most do use the same calendar now. not in the past. Mon. was the first day of the week in Russia before 1940. Others did this also. Monday was first,Tuesday 2nd. and so forth. The sabbath was the seventh,no question, at least Biblical. I guess my question is which day was actually the first. As far as I can determine we don,t know which day was the first orginally. Yes, our calendar now shows Sunday as the first day. Can you find any History as to what days were used in the Biblical times (400 B.C.). |

I guess I'm not clear. I guess the easiest is to ask which is the sabbath, saturday or sunday. which is the 7th day? Do we have any evidence that dates back to the 400 B. C. era naming the other days of the week? Is the first day of the week Sun, Mon, Tues. or some other day or maybe was another name. Where to I find this?

Greetings, Since this is a Bible study forum and not a history forum what actual difference dose it make with regards to New Testament Scripture? Col. 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Have a merry Christmas, CDBJ |

Hi red007 and welcome to the forum, I must admit, I don’t have the capacity to retain a thought for eight Months which is the time since I posted the message that you just answered. Check the dates on the far right side of the postings and you will see what I mean. Don’t let that slow you down though! Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |
