1 | Two questions on Daniel Chapter 5 | Dan 5:25 | Jeanne1 | 80455
When Abraham and Sarah were taken from the land of Ur (Babylon) their names were changed from Ibrahim and Sarai, you already know. There was nothing about specific groups at all...the King was a despot...in the midst of a huge party when the hand appeared on the wall and began to write..Have you been to a party lately where this happened? I did not tell you not to check people who preach and under who's teaching you sit, of course you should compare them with scripture...do you think the king did this? Of course not. He was guided to Daniel after magicians, and astrologers, who when they couldn't answer, lost their lives. If you read the news, are a Jew, or know anything about Judiasm, you would know about the Babylonian Jews who still exist today. There is a shul in Baghdad that has never been touched, and those Jews still worship there, under the protection of Suddam Hussein..you are obviously not Jewish. Where do you think the Babylonian Talmud comes from and where do you think we got the last version that was readable? Do you know what is Gemmorah and Talmud? It is not Torah. Mene Mene is a bastardized form af Arabic and Aramaic. Tranlated it is God saying in no uncertain terms "pay attention to Me now, don't look around, don't listen to anything else, just ME and ME alone" It means loosely translated "pay attention I am angry and you need to hear what I have to tell you". Like when your kids need a heads up fast...you don't clear your throat and say, oh excuse me...you say...Listen here! That is what the king was told...and he did not listen...remember the end result? This isn't anything I would want in my life, how about you? I have seen and heard people debate points in the Bible until you forget or distort the big picture.it is what gives us all these denominations in Protestantism...it's just not worth it..The message to us is Jesus is the Answer, He is the One and Only God, He is the Lord God Almighty, He is the One who died and rose again, to save us from our sin, and if we do not accept that message with all of our hearts, minds, souls and bodies, we have missed the boat. As a Jew, I can tell you when you hear the voice of God, you will know it..We live in blindness, because we debate the verses of talmud, gemmorah, and other issues of law, not unlike the Pharisees of Jesus day. The message is God will be heard, you will know it is HIS voice when you hear it, and you had better obey HIM immediately. He doesn't just call us once regarding salvation, however, HE can definitely allow our hearts to become hard against even the message of salvation (Romans 1)If HE has a task for you to do, you had better do it if you hear HIS voice, regardless of where you hear it....HIS voice is recognizable to any heart and mind who loves and obeys HIM. Suppose God wanted you to go to the mission field? You are pressed deeply and know without a doubt you have been told to go....You ignore the voice of God..you have missed the purpose HE designed you for..and HE will send someone else...do you really think God allows HIS plans to be slowed down due to our stupidity, hardheadedness, and disobedience? HE loves us and forgives for this, however, when we miss the boat, we miss the boat, and do not get GOD's best for us. Let's not get that big, suppose you felt seriously pressed to go and speak to a neighbour about Jesus ..You know it is the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart and mind....you don't go, and the neighbour dies. I don't worry about picking to pieces scripture...the Bible tells us this is foolishness, debate for the sake of debate..It takes our hearts and minds off of what is really important in scripture. Why is this such an issue with you? It really amazes me that you concern yourself with a writing on a wall that is 5000 or so years old...does this really effect your life? Do you know the Lord Jesus's enormous love for you and have you given your life over to HIM? I love you and will pray that all of your questions will be answered, the little ones, and the big ones....I shall also pray that The Lord will fill your heart to such overflowing, the only thing you will be able to write and speak about will be HIS enormous love for you. Not to be nosey here, and only because it interests me greatly to know why you care about this matter, but are you a male or female, and how old are you? I only ask to get a perspective on where you are in life. I truly hope that whatever The Heavenly Father has in store for you will come clearly to you, and you will know HIS voice, and receive the greatest blessings of HIS enormous love for you. Love in Christ, J |

2 | Two questions on Daniel Chapter 5 | Dan 5:25 | Morant61 | 80484
Greetings J! First of all, welcome to the forum! You wrote: "I don't worry about picking to pieces scripture...the Bible tells us this is foolishness, debate for the sake of debate..It takes our hearts and minds off of what is really important in scripture." Where exactly does the Bible tell us that it is foolishness to dig into the meaning of the 'pieces' of Scripture? :-) I agree with part of your point. It is possible to analyze the message of God intensly, but never actually 'hear' it. However, it is even more dangerous to go to the other extreme and not dig into God's Word and just 'make it' mean whatever we want. God's Word is written in real languages according to real rules of grammar. I believe that it is extremely important to dig into God's Word that we might better understand it and respond to it. Paul refers to this in 2 Tim. 2:15: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." Here 'correctly handles' is literally 'cutting straight the Word of Truth'. It is the same word used of a tent maker, who had to cut the pieces correctly and accurately in order to make a tent. Scripture must be approached with the same dilligence and care. And, yes, it must also be responded to as well. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

3 | Two questions on Daniel Chapter 5 | Dan 5:25 | Jeanne1 | 80490
Dear Tim: I would suggest you read the entire thread provided by Chusarcik, who cannot seem to understand the gospel, or history, or bother to look up anything else that might be of consequence. This person asks some of the most bizarre questions, that have eluded scholars for the ages, and wants a 3 sentence answer. When this person found out about a Jewish writer, who would dare to ask if person knew the Lord? the thread was broken. Thanks for your input...I know the scripture well..unfortunately it's not well adhered to...I would rather see people evangelize that prognosticate..about things that have really no relevance to life today. If you don't know the Lord as your personal saviour...you can have all the answers to all the questions but for what? Do you really think the handwriting on the wall at Nebbi's party in Daniel will save a soul? Maybe, but who cares? It's fun to do, and fun to read, and yes it pertains to exactly what is happening in the middle east today, but you need to read a whole lot more than a few verses, and a couple on internet chats Thanks, J |

This is truly a fun website, Tim, and please don't misunderstand me. I love to discuss scripture with other Christians, we all have such diverse backgrounds and can bring so much to the table, individually and collectively. If someone is NOT a Christian, I would suggest they find a Bible believing, preaching church, buy a Bible, concordance, encyclopedia, and get into a submissive discipleship program immediately. Internet chat sites are not for discipleship, nor do they replace a fellowship of Believers. J |
