1 | From where is the KIngdom Lydia? | Dan 2:31 | EdB | 60220
Ateo, The inferior talked about here was in the form of government. With an absolute monarchy or dictatorship being the strongest. The Babylonian empire was ruled by a Nebuchadnezzar, who held life or death in a nod of his head. Notice I did not say the best or most desirable but rather the strongest. The Medo-Persian government was actually a coalition of strong men which was inferior in unity and strength. The Grecian government was ran by a strong man under subjection to a group of advisors. An even more inferior form of government. The Roman was a Senatorial type of government where Senators representing the will of the people directed the government. While this is form of government is very desirable to live under it is also the weakest in its control and ability to move quickly. Thus we can see as we move down the body of the statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream we see gradually declining strength in the government. Just as each section is represented by a lesser value of metal. Gold representing Babylon or Nebuchadnezzar at the head down to iron representing Roman government, which by the way lasted the longest and was the largest. EdB |

2 | From where is the KIngdom Lydia? | Dan 2:31 | ateo | 60330
EdB, That's an interesting view, but I'm still not convinced. Everything I've read about this time period seems to suggest that "might is right". That being said, it seems more natural to assume that the writer is referring to military inferiority. In that case, I think it would be hard to consider Media-Persia as inferior to Babylon. Regardless, I think we can both agree that the real emphasis of this vision is on the last empire. After all, it's the only one that the writer discusses in any real detail. On that note, it seems plausible to assume the last nation is Greece. Daniel 2:41 claims that the empire will be divided. Alexander the Great died at a very early age. His empire was then divided up among his 4 generals. And, needless to say, there was a great deal of fighting that went on between them, which, in my opinion, is the topic of a later chapter. I look forward to your response. ateo |

3 | From where is the KIngdom Lydia? | Dan 2:31 | Aspilos | 60356
Ateo, you wish to think that the fourth empire is that of the Greek's because, as you stated, "Daniel 2:41 claims that the empire will be divided" but in chapter 7 the four empires are again mentioned, but this time as beasts. Note the description of the third one. Dan. 7:6 NIV "After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule. As you stated, "His empire [Alexander the Great] was then divided up among his 4 generals." Four seems to be the description of the third beast. The heads representing rulers of authority and the wings for the swiftness in which the conquered. Surely the writer wouldn't have written something to contradact himself only a few chapters later. Don't forget also that Rome was divided. Note the fourth beast in Dan. 7. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

Keith, No. I know the empire split into the east and the west, but I thought you believed it was divided in another way. Maybe I was wrong. hasta luego ateo |
