1 | does eternal have a beginning? | Jer 1:5 | kalos | 23143
angels 26; God 0 Ps 8:5 Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor. (Amplified) Note: "lower than God [OR HEAVENLY BEINGS]" (emphasis added). Heb 2:7 "YOU HAVE MADE HIM FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND HAVE APPOINTED HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS; (Amplified) Note: "LOWER THAN *THE ANGELS*" (emphasis added). In 26 out of 26 versions I consulted, all 26 of them translate the word in Heb 2:7 as "angels." The translations that use angels in Heb 2:7 are: Amplified, NIV, NASB, NLT, KJV, NKJV, RSV, 21st Century KJV, Worldwide English, Darby, 3rd Millenium, NRSV, TEV, Douay-Rheims, New Century, GOD'S WORD, World English Bible, Bible in Basic English, Hebrew Names Version, Webster's Bible, Latin Vulgate ("angelis"), Wesley's NT, Phillips, NEB, CEV, ASV 1901. No one at this Forum thinks he knows better than the translators of 26 versions, does he? Grace to you. |

2 | does eternal have a beginning? | Jer 1:5 | ethan | 23162
so does that mean Pslm 8:5 is wrong. the amplified translates it to God.and the original word is Elohiym.how many other times has Elohiym been translated into Angel? which one was written first? .it appears over 2249 times and in Psalms 8:5 is the only place that it is translated angels. it is the same as Gen 1:1 also check out the two words for LOWER. one means to cause to lack and in Hebrews it means to make inferior looking at the two verses that way they balance out. bless you.
3 | does eternal have a beginning? | Jer 1:5 | kalos | 23172
OK. So I guess you are right and the translators of ALL 26 VERSIONS are wrong. I guess they were just ignorant of the fact that the Hebrew word in Psalm 8:5 has many possible translations, one of which is "God." By the way, we are talking about two different things. You are talking about Psalm 8:5. I've been talking about Hebrews 2:7. No offense, but I don't care to continue this discussion. Nothing personal, I assure you. Bless you, too. No hard feelings. Just a lively disagreement. :-) |
