1 | Why does God send storms? | Gen 3:17 | james210 | 133149
"And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: CURSED IS THE GROUND FOR THY SAKE; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life." Genesis 3:17 (emphasis mine) "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." Romans 8:22 When Adam sinned, God cursed the ground. All death and suffering come from mankind's sin. This does not necessarily mean that Hurricane Ivan was sent by God specifically to kill certain people that have sinned. God could be chastening our nation so that we should repent (see Revelation 3:19). There is also the possibility that the hurricane just happened - we live in a fallen creation marred by death and suffering. Note that Satan also has the ability to control the weather - see Job 1. |

My mil said she thinks the reason Pensacola was hit so hard is that there is a gay church and a gay beach. That's not saying that all are gay...after all, her family is there, that's where she grew up. But it rains on the just and the unjust and God does make good out of bad for those that love Him so...

There's no scripture that could be used to support the idea as cited in your question. Instead I would cite Matt 5:45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. God doesn't use the forces of nature to punish as He is NOT "a respector of persons." It's on Judgment Day that all will get the reward in Heaven or the their condemnation to Hell. Blessings to you. Country Girl, I agree with your thoughts here. I think 2 Cor. 5:10 would establish that any "judgement" is going to be future! God's not punishing us (or Pensacola), He punished Jesus in the sense that He "made Him who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf that we would become the righteousness of God in Him." All judgement is committed to the Son ( John 5:22). Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hi, Brad... Just some thoughts... but... what about Acts 5, Acts 13:11, and 1 Cor 11:30?

If I might, I thought I might interject. I'm not exactly sure to what you're referring but you seem to be questioning some of the instances where God's official representatives meted out certain punishments for sinful activities. Surely you're not questioning God's judgment in commissioning these men as they made their judgments with complete and perfect justice since they had the Holy Spirit to guide them. This is just merely another chapter in God's long running series of handling these kinds of affairs in the same way he handled Uzzah, Nadab and Abihu, King Saul, King David, Jonah, Sodom and Gomorrah and on and on. The list is far too long. God hands out judgments as he sees fit as He created us and we are simply the created for His pleasure. Notice Jesus had that same ability and potential but He seemed to restrain Himself as He came to seek and save the lost. If you don't mind, I'd like to have you clarify yourself and make your question as posted much more plain. Please clarify. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
