NASB | Genesis 3:17 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:17 Then to Adam the LORD God said, "Because you have listened [attentively] to the voice of your wife, and have eaten [fruit] from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it'; The ground is [now] under a curse because of you; In sorrow and toil you shall eat [the fruit] of it All the days of your life. |
Bible Question:
Why does God send storms? Maybe to wake us up or maybe to show how we can handle adversity? I know I was blessed going thru Ivan, we were on the west side, the east side is where all the damage was. I lost power for a week but considering what others are still going thru, that was a walk in the park! I praise God He brought us thru this so well. We are truly blessed. |
Bible Answer: "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: CURSED IS THE GROUND FOR THY SAKE; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life." Genesis 3:17 (emphasis mine) "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." Romans 8:22 When Adam sinned, God cursed the ground. All death and suffering come from mankind's sin. This does not necessarily mean that Hurricane Ivan was sent by God specifically to kill certain people that have sinned. God could be chastening our nation so that we should repent (see Revelation 3:19). There is also the possibility that the hurricane just happened - we live in a fallen creation marred by death and suffering. Note that Satan also has the ability to control the weather - see Job 1. |
