Hello Bruce7, May I give another web site that gives the other side if the story (Jesus, etc. in NIV but not in KJV)? http://www.tegart.com/brian/bible/kjvonly/jesusnew.html If this is true, what of other modern translation comparisons. Have you checked? Steve |

NIRV and a New Testament that is popular, it has a blue cover and have been given one by a preacher, and a parishoner of a different denomination offered one to me, I turned it down after explaining why I could't recommend it. It also does not have verses numbered. Peace Bruce | ||||||

Bruce7, The Hebrew and Greek texts of the OT and NT also do not have verse numbers. Chapter and verse numbers were added by man hundredds of years after the completion of the NT. The verse numbers are NOT part of the inspired text of the Bible. However, I agree with you that it is better to stick with a literal translation and avoid the dynamic equivalent translations and the paraphrases. Grace to you, kalos |
