Hi CDBJ I am not interested in discussing the matter as of yet but did have a question. You quoted Lk 23:43, as "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Why would a comma be placed after "thee," instead of after "Today" ? You notice you would have two completely different meanings if it were placed after "today". Very interesting and I thank you for your time and effort. Truthfinder |

Greetings Truthfinder! I think I have addressed this question before, but normally verbs like 'lego' are followed immediately by the contents of the speech. The only exceptions are when the pronoun expressing the direct object follows the verb (which it does not in this case) or when a helping word like 'hoti' is used as a quotation mark (which it is not in this case). So, there is every reason to place the comma after 'I say' and not after 'today'. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
