Justme The WOF faith doctrine is probably the most destructive doctrine that faces the church today. I have seen churches dissolve over it. I have seen ministers throw in the towel and quite because of it. I have seen families destroyed over it. I have seen people give up and take their lives because of it. When people put their faith in faith and it fails they have nothing left. WOF teaches another Jesus and basically replaces God with a god called faith. Once people are into it, it is very hard to get them out. They have been proof texted into believing the lie. When ever you discuss theology with a WOF be prepared to be hit with one proof text after another. They care nothing about context or meaning, their only concern is how they can manipulate the text to agree with what they said. Unfortunately the many of the big name Christian TV “stars” are deep in to it and they spread its lie like a fire through dry grass. It tickles the ear because it basically puts man back into control. If your faith is strong enough there is nothing you can’t do. If your faith is pure enough there is nothing that can be withheld from you. If your faith is true enough you life becomes a life of Riley. They completely forget, God’s will, His plan, His desire. They forget that God challenges and tests us to strengthen us. They forget that someone else may be praying for something completely different. They forget we live in a fallen world. They forget Peter and John both wrote epistles telling us not to be discouraged when trials and tribulations come into our lives. WOF changes God from the Sovereign Creator and attempts to turn God into a servant that must run to do our beck and call. Their will deny that statement in a minute they claim they are just holding God to His promises. As if there was a grand supreme court in the sky the God has to answer too. The results are the same God is not longer God but becomes the valet hurrying to do our bid. The biggest problem is they will not listen or read anything that may open their eyes. Like all cults they have been warned about people, books, or teaching that contradicts WOF. They are to avoid them at all cost. They have been so indoctrinated and told to not let anything enter their life that may steal their faith. If their faith is so weak that it can stand the scrutiny of their own mind after reading an article that disagrees with their stand they really don’t have much to begin with. In other words their leaders say don’t you dare listen to anyone that has a different view, their wrong and just listening will weaken your faith. I have repeatedly tried to get WOF to read to excellent books on the deception of WOF “Christianity in Crisis and “Counterfeit Revival” both written by Hank Hanegraaff. Most have been cautioned to stay away from reading this book as it might “steal” your faith. Again if you faith is that weak maybe it needs to brought into the light of the truth. Sorry I will now get down from my soapbox. :-) EdB |

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who [Heb 7:19] comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." Ed...I have studied the WOF teaching and this is a lie... Our faith is in the covenant of blood through Jesus Christ our Lord and God's Word. The word faith (depending on which translation you choose) is used 550 times. Every promise, beginning with our salvation must be received by faith....Justified by faith...righteous by faith...healed by faith....delivered by faith... Absolutely nothing provided through the new covenant can be received except through faith which worketh by love... I pointed out to you on other posts where Hank LIED in his book and you still defend his book and call it TRUTH. I suppose as long as there are only a few lies...it is still a reputable book. |

gracefull: You write: "...Hank LIED in his book..." Thank you for providing us with an example of what I just wrote about, which is: "Do they (WOF followers) seriously consider the information provided? No, instead they launch ad hominem (marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made) attacks on the sources I quote." You write: "I pointed out to you on other posts where Hank LIED in his book..." I missed the other posts in which you pointed out that Hank lied in his book. If you will provide me with the ID#s of those posts, I would like to read them. Thank you. Radioman2 |

Radioman Likewise, you have provided me with a perfect example of anti-WOF folks ASSUMPTIONS. "Do they (WOF followers) seriously consider the information provided? No, instead they launch ad hominem (marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made) attacks on the sources I quote." You assume we have not seriously considered the information simply because we may disagree with you! There is one thing most believers who hear and agree with some to these teachers predominantly. We believe the Word of God is superior to man's ideas. Why would you believe we will throw away the beliefs we gather from God's Word because of the opinions in Hank's book? Especially when we realize what he is accusing us of believing is not what we believe? Our foundation is grounded in the Word. If you folks9anti-WOF) really do believe the teachings are scripturally incorrect, stop (especially here on the BIBLE STUDY FORUM) paroting the snide remarks and inuendos, and accusations against your brothers and sisters, and get the teachings and do an objective comparison study. This attitude only promotes divisiveness...Love speaks Truth (My word is truth) Go to http://evangelizeamerica.org choose 'apologetics' look toward the bottom of the list. There are also several apologetis about what the WOF teachings are and what they are not. God bless |

?God created man in “God’s class,” as “little gods,”? Matt 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many." I have a question for all who would defend the word of faith movement and its super-star preachers, including Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Fred Price, Paul and Jan Crouch, John Avanzini, Benny Hinn, Jesse Duplantis, and Marilyn Hickey. For a moment, forget their unbiblical doctrine of the prosperity gospel. What about their teachings concerning the nature of God, Christ and man, as summarized below? 'It (the Word of Faith movement) asserts that God created human beings in “God’s class” as “little gods.” Before the fall, humans had the potential to exercise a “God kind of faith” and could call things into existence. Humans took on Satan’s nature by rebelling against God in the Garden of Eden, thus losing the ability to call things into existence. In order to correct this situation, Jesus Christ became a man, died spiritually (taking Satan’s nature upon Himself), went to hell, was “born again,” and rose from the dead with God's nature. After this, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to duplicate the Incarnation in believers so they might fulfill their calling to be little gods. 'It follows, then, that those who have had the Incarnation duplicated in them by the Holy Spirit (thus giving them the ability to exercise the “God kind of faith”) should be successful in every area of their lives. Furthermore, hardships like indebtedness, illness, and even being left by one’s spouse show lack of faith because these problems should be eliminated by “claiming” God’s promises. While certain details of the above outlined doctrine vary from teacher to teacher, the general outline remains the same.' (www.equip.org/free/RC010.htm) |

NOTE TO SELF: As much as things change they remain the same. Not knowing history we are doomed to repeat it. Early Church Heresies Montanism (Late 2nd Century) Montanus began his career innocently enough through preaching a return to penance and fervor. His movement also emphasized the continuance of miraculous gifts, such as speaking in tongues and prophecy. However, he also claimed that his teachings were above those of the Church, and soon he began to teach Christ’s imminent return in his home town in Phrygia. There were also statements that Montanus himself either was, or at least specially spoke for, the Paraclete that Jesus had promised would come (in reality, the Holy Spirit). cut and pasted from: Catholic Answers |
