1 | there is no jewishness in the church why | Hebrews | Taleb | 101931 | ||
The whole book of Hebrews answers your question with precision. For an exact answer that is also brief, take Hebrew 10:8-9 “First, Jesus said, ‘Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings AND sin offerings You (God the Father) neither desired nor delighted in.’ (although the law required them to be made). Then Jesus said, ‘Here I am. I have come to do Your will.' Jesus SETS ASIDE the first to establish the second.” If Jesus set the first (the Jewish aspects of worship and sacrifice) to establish the second, WHY, pray tell would anyone want to reinstate it? It is obsolete and has no value period. Respectfully, Taleb |

Again, I refer you to the Book of Hebrews. It doesn't take long. I suggest you read it outloud to yourself and pay particular attention to what the author says about REPLACING the old with the new. Jesus annulled the Levitical priesthood AND the law it served because of its weakness AND uselessness, for the law brought nothing to perfection. BUT a BETTER HOPE has supervended, and through IT we draw near to God." (Hebrews 7:18-19) Hebrews 8:8-9 "If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no place for a second one. BUT GOD, finding fault with them ..." As a P.S., I will quote from Galatians (another great book that points out our freedom FROM the old). Gal. 3:19--"What is the relevance of the law, in such cases? It was given in view of trangressions and promulgated by angels, at the hands of a mediator; it WAS TO BE VALID ONLY UNTIL that descendant or offspring came to whom the promise had been given." Jesus Christ, the risen and coming again Son of God IS THAT descendant or offspring promised. Blessings, Taleb |

Scripture ... Hebrews 9 - 10 ... is the only replacement. There is no longer a need for the blood sacrifice 0 He He is once, for all. Moreover, Hebrews show the OT is incomplete with Christ ... and did He say He was going to abolish the Law and prophets or fulfill? |

Searcher, Jesus FULFILLED the law. How? By His death. The penalty for "breaking the law" was death. The penalty for sin is death. Jesus PAID it for us - you, me, and everyone else - whether you, they, or I believe it or not. When Jesus PAID the penalty on the cross - the law WAS fulfilled. With the law fulfilled once and for all time - there is no more need to ever fulfill it again. The NT explains it so often. But Hebrews demonstrates what is BETTER than the OLD. Have you ever read the "better" verses in Hebrews? Blessings, Taleb |

Scripture ... Mat 5:17-19 ... He did fulfill the Law AND PROPHETS (don't foget the second half) ... and the Lord Jesus Christ said He didn't come to abolish them (Mat 5:17-19) ... and I suggest you read the warning of verse 19. Better doesn't mean the OT is done away with ... as with when the QB throws a pass, unless it is caught it is incomplete (listen to the Denver Broncos home games when the vistors throws an incomplete pass ... the crowd says INCOMPLETE) ... plus the receiver needs the QB to throw the pass. The OT is incomplete without the NT (Jesus) ... and the NT needs the OT to understand the Bible completely. Taleb, you have returned ... and we know what you have said before. |
