Subject: Taleb, Are you a NT only person ? |
Bible Note: Searcher, I based my statement on the ENTIRE book of Galatians, NOT on something written years later to a different people (Matthew). Galatians 5:14 “the WHOLE LAW IS summarized in a single command – love your neighbor as yourself." Paul wrote “the whole law is …” . Who are we to argue with the words inspired by His Holy Spirit? Paul is writing to “non-Jews” – to converted pagans. To BECOME a Christian – one HAD to love God. So, where does your “if you fail to love God, you will go to Hell” fit? Paul empathized in this letter that the law had absolutely no part in salvation. That was the reason for writing the letter. Jewish “Christians” were attempting to impose what Jesus’ death removed – the law. As far as what Matthew wrote – don’t forget his “audience” was to whom THE LAW (now, and according to Scripture, forever abolished) was issued in the first place. I can't make you, but, personally I MUST BELIEVE what God inspired Paul to write about this topic over what others have "claimed" since the misinformed Christians of the early Church. People still attempt to claim Paul must have meant something other than what most, if not all, of his epistles proclaim about the "end of the law". Because of failure to understand much of Jesus' words, they misquote Him too. Even though He states matter-of-factly in John 16:24f "UNTIL NOW" (shortly before His death), ... "I have been telling you all this in metaphors, the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in metaphors ..." I trust all is well with you and your home, Taleb |
