1 | I won"t be saved if I don't tithe | 2 Corinthians | EdB | 63617
Johnny I see you do support the church you just call it a love offering rather than anything else. That is great! I have a slight problem with your treatment of the Pastor. I personally think you should see that your pastor is compensated in return for his service to you but that is your business. When I give I give for two reasons. One I’m honoring God with something very precious to me, something God has given to me to be steward over. It becomes an act of worship. The second reason I give is I understand if I want a nice church, to be able to give missionary support, to have a pastor that can drop anything and go to a hospital or travel with a family members as they escort a body back home for burial, he will not be able to hold a job. Therefore if I want him to have that freedom, I then have an obligation to support him. How much do I give? I think the Bible gives me a indication 10 percent seems to be a good place to begin. I know this is called a tithe. Before you jump up and say but that is Old Testament! Your right, but it was before the law. Abraham gave that amount to honor Melchizedek. Therefore in a like manner I giving to honor God Furthermore I’m can only bound to something when I allow myself to be bound, Christ has set me free. I can freely give my tithe or I can freely keep my tithe, but my sense of obligation and my commitment to support the church tells me I need to give it. Johnny I don’t know what expectations you place on your pastor but if you make any then I think you need to rethink your position as far as his support goes. Examine yourself, make sure you can stand blameless and not withholding what you could have freely gave. EdB |

2 | I won"t be saved if I don't tithe | 2 Corinthians | jlpangilinan | 63621
EdB, We learn that from them, the taught us that if we serve we truly serve. They dont asked really that we are going to help them for thier salaries. They are happy with the system. They really taught every members if we want to be a workers for the church such us preacher, we dont expect a salary from the church but then still we have many member become a worker. (The bible school is free anyway). This set-up is from them not because we dont want to help them but it really thier dedication to the church, instead of raising funds for thier salaries, we can use such funds for other matters. These are verses that they always remind us: 2Co 11:9 And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself. 2Co 12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. Again, thanks for your time, God bless, Johnny |

3 | I won"t be saved if I don't tithe | 2 Corinthians | EdB | 63629
Johnny I'm glad that is working for you. There is a case to be made for pastor support and a case for not doing it. As the to the methods your church is using would probably not work here in the US. Where we have a give me mind set. However I do agree with what Hank said in one of his posts. I have found churches that don't focus on money seem to have more than those that put a great emphasis on it. Be Blessed EdB |
