Because of the sorcery that Simon had bewitched the people with for so long, It took the more mature beleivers to remove the darkness and then they manifested the Spirit which they already had. The same is needed today if the supposed leaders in the body would rise up and beleive. | ||||||

"Because of the sorcery that Simon had bewitched the people with for so long, It took the more mature beleivers to remove the darkness and then they manifested the Spirit which they already had." So Simon's sorcery was greater than the Holy Spirit? What verse are you citing in support of sorcery being more powerful than God? --Joe! |

You wrote: "It didn't prevent them from recieving just manifesting. God give us the gift, it's up to us what we do with it." It is still the same problem. You are saying (without any Scriptural proof) that Simon's sorcery kept the Holy Spirit from being manifested. Sorcery stronger than God? I should hope not! --Joe! |

There is a difference between being UNABLE to work and UNWILLING to work. In this case, Jesus did not do many mighty works there, because of the unbelief on the part of the Nazarenes. It is not that the people were sovereign over God, but that God sovereignly chose to withhold His mighty works. You have not demonstrated yet how the entire region in the Acts passage was under the sway of Simon's sorcery. --Joe! |

The context say's they were bewiched by Simon for a lond period of time, they all from the least to the greatest, gave regard unto him, saying he was the great power of God. God can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Evidently he wants the church to carry out his purposes at this time, with the Holy Spirit enableing us to do it. |
