Where does it say that? 'God cannot look upon sin.' Where in the Bible does it say that? I just now searched the whole Bible online, using the KJV. This is the message that was displayed: "Your search query for 'look upon sin' did not return any results." Just to make sure, I also used another search engine and got the same results. According to these two sources, the exact phrase 'look upon sin' occurs nowhere in the Bible. A similar search for 'look at sin' showed no results. If the Bible says 'God cannot look upon sin' or 'God cannot look at sin', it would be easy enough to prove. All anyone has to do is show us the book, chapter and verse where it says that. If no one can produce that verse, then obviously the Bible doesn't say 'God cannot look upon sin.' Grace to you, Kalos |

2 | Man or man? | Mark | Makarios | 141541
Kalos, I cannot find any one place within Scripture that says "God cannot look at (or upon) sin." But I can find numerous places that says that sin is repugnant to God.. There is a big difference between saying that sin is 'repugnant' to God and God not having the ability to look upon or at sin. Keep up the good work, as I know you have! Makarios |

3 | Man or man? | Mark | BradK | 141543
Makarios, The disputed reference may be to Hab. 1:13: "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?" (KJV) It may be that the original poster was referring to the fact that God cannot allow sin into His presence? When we consider Gods' holiness, certainly sin has no part of Him. Those are my thoughts, Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

[BradK: Good work in finding the Hab. 1:13 reference. Following are some alternate translations of Hab. 1:13. Let it be noted by those who read them that they do not contradict the KJV nor alter the meaning. They merely amplify or clarify the meaning. Grace to you! --Kalos] 'You can not look on wickedness with favor' NASB Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor. Why do You look with favor On those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they? 'can not look [inactively] upon injustice' AMPLIFIED You are of purer eyes than to behold evil and can not look [inactively] upon injustice. Why then do You look upon the plunderer? Why are you silent when the wicked one destroys him who is more righteous than [the Chaldean oppressor] is? 'you cannot tolerate wrong' New International VersionĀ® Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves? 'you, who cannot allow sin in any form' The New Living Translation You are perfectly just in this. But will you, who cannot allow sin in any form, stand idly by while they swallow us up? Should you be silent while the wicked destroy people who are more righteous than they? 'You cannot tolerate wrongdoing' Holman Christian Standard BibleĀ® [Your] eyes are too pure to look on evil, and You cannot tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You tolerate those who are treacherous? Why are You silent while one who is wicked swallows up one who is more righteous than himself? |
