What are your views of once saved always saved? This has been an issue for a while and I am not sure that I completely understand the Bible's stance on this. I can think of several scriptures that make me wonder. |

Pillman: Welcome to the Forum! You ask a question that is brought up quite frequently, and not without some heat hot enough to cook hot dogs on! There are two groups on this subject that are positive they are right and the others are wrong. I belong to the groug that is right. Ha Ha. Either you believe you can't loose your salvation or that it is possible to loose your your salvation. Both sides have scripture backing their belief and position. Both sides are cemented in their view and can't see how the other side could be so blind. Bothe sided try endlessly to convert the other, at times bothe sides become testy, and sometimes get hurt feelings. That is a blow by blow discription of the way views are presented. Now for what I believe, you know the right way to believe. First I believe faith that falters had a flaw in it from the first. I do believe the Holy Spirit comes and seals us when we are genuinely born again. I do not believe a genuine born again believer can loose their salvation. John chapter 10 is a solid basis for this belief. If we can't take Jesus word for it I guess we can't believe much else then. As you can tell I an very bias on this subject. However I think this belief is essential because Hebrews chapter 6 says that if we were to loose our salvation it could not be gotten back. I hope this helps. Any thoughts? justme |

AO, Those who have been enlightened refers to those who have been baptised. The early Christians call baptism "the bath of enlightenment. See Justin Martyr's First Apology, chapter one, 155 A.D. "enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift" refers to those who have been baptised and received the Eucharist. Emmaus |
