I am asking for an answer to prayer and would like as many praying as possible. Additonally, I would like to receive scripture to read regarding my prayer. Help with all scriptures you can regarding my prayer. Also, if you know of anything else I can say to her. I have a friend that has recently started studying with the Jehovah Witnesses and I cry to the Lord to help me show her the truth. Thus far, she is not weakening. I know he will do this in his time. I don't know what else to say to her. |

Hello happyandfree, If you haven't already, You should ask your friend why the Jahovah's Witnesses do not focus on this scripture at 1 John 4:2. The name Jehovah is what they like to use to differentiate themselves from other Christians. And because of that, they are not really Christians. Please see my question at ID# 92778. Aren't "Jahovah's" Witnesses anti-Christ or else they would be called "Jesus Christ" Witnesses? Also, since they say that a God of "Love" will not bring everlasting punishment that makes them false prophets: Jer 14 15Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, "Sword and famine shall not be in this land'--"By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed! The focus of the Watchtower and Tract Society on the name "Jehovah" is totally misplaced emphasis. The scriptures already have the emphasis on the name of the Son! Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." The great conspiracy of Satan is really the "spirit of anti-Christ", not "anti-Jehovah". Scripture emphasizes a conspiracy against the Son (Anti-Christ)? 1 John 4 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that[1] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. How does the NWT render the above scripture? Also ask her if she agrees that the doctrine of the trinity "does not" teach that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are "one person"? However, they are "one God", but also three eternally distinct persons. The bible is clear that there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. John 3 18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Ask her if she believes that you can be saved by the name Jehovah or by the name of Jesus Christ? Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

Hi Pastor Glen, I was hoping that you would explain matt 23:8-12. I am having a hard time understatnding who is truely following Christ. I know that we will know them by thier fruit. Is that fruit truely if they follow the Bible or not.
4 | Please explain matt 23:8-12 | 1 John 4:2 | newlife813 | 157061
If they are walking in their own understanding, they are not following Christ. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells you to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. v.6 In all your ways, acknowledge Him And He shall direct your path. Matt 23:8-12 tells us to humble ourselves to him. When you humble yourself to Christ, you have a gentle spirit. Not having the attitude as if you know everything. Not having a prideful spirit. |

5 | Please explain matt 23:8-12 | 1 John 4:2 | deep input | 157063
Thank you newlife, I agree with you. We can only trust what the Bible says. I do feel frustrated at all the "godly" people who don't walk by the Word. It seems that people ignore the Word of God for thier own understanding. I feel that matt 23:8-12 is an example of this. Of course we are to humble ourselves. That is what Jesus says in verse 12. Verses 8-11, however, say not to call anybody rabbi(pastor), father, master. Is it ok to ignore this because we feel in our hearts that it is ok to call people pastor or father.
6 | Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157103
Hello deep input, You wrote: “Verses 8-11, however, say not to call anybody rabbi(pastor), father, master. Is it ok to ignore this because we feel in our hearts that it is ok to call people pastor or father. “ You equate rabbi and pastor. But the bible or dictionary does not. Why did you throw that (pastor) into the scripture? Mat 23 8 "But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 "Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 "Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ. 11 "But the greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 "Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted. rabbi n 1: spiritual leader of a Jewish congregation; qualified to expound and apply Jewish law 2: a Hebrew title of respect for a Jewish scholar or teacher Pastor 1: A Christian minister or priest having spiritual charge over a congregation or other group. 2: A layperson having spiritual charge over a person or group. 3: A shepherd. You do not need to call me “pastor”, “brother” will do just fine. I have a question for you too. Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? Brother Glenn |

7 | Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? | 1 John 4:2 | deep input | 157127
Hello brother Glenn, You were right. I should not have added pastor. It just seems to me that Jesus was saying don't call anyone anything, we are all brothers in this together. Any way thank you very much for you response. Last night, I was frustrated and I do appologies. Do I believe Jesus is God. I believe Jesus is God's Son, I believe Jesus is my King, Savior, and friend. I will serve him with the best of my abilities. I am sad that I have not done this better, but that is what I desire to do. All I know to do is trust the Bible and in John 14:28 Jesus says that the father is greater then himself. From my own understanding which I do not trust, but all I have right now, I don't believe God would call Himself the Son of Man. I believe Jesus was sent by his father to this world to save it. Jesus is now, and rightfully so, sitting at the Father's right hand. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is my Lord!! Now, a question for you. Do you consider yourself a new testament levite?
8 | Is Jesus Christ God? Is He your Lord? | 1 John 4:2 | Pastor Glenn | 157134
Hello deep input, You wrote: “Do I believe Jesus is God. I believe Jesus is God's Son, I believe Jesus is my King, Savior, and friend.” It appears that you have quit a dilemma. You accept Jesus as your King and Lord, but not as your God. This is the same dilemma that all followers of the Watchtower and Tract Society face when they read the scriptures by the Watchtower’s teachings. On one hand, you are taught that the name Jehovah is the most important name in the holy scriptures. On the other hand, you know that the scriptures say that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Him. Also, you know that there is no other name given among men, whereby we must be saved. “I will serve him with the best of my abilities. I am sad that I have not done this better, but that is what I desire to do. All I know to do is trust the Bible and in John 14:28 Jesus says that the father is greater then himself. From my own understanding which I do not trust, but all I have right now, I don't believe God would call Himself the Son of Man. “ From reading this along with your other posts that question God’s favoritism of some biblical patriots over others, I see that you lack the security of your salvation that only comes from faith in knowing Jesus as God. Hebrews chapter 11 shows that it was faith that made the difference. But faith in what? Jacob wrestled with someone that he thought was a man, but he later said that he had seen God face to face and lived: Gen 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. Abram also believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Jesus himself could have said that we should search the scriptures because they testify of Jehovah. But no. Instead, He said that they testify of Him (Jesus): John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. “I believe Jesus was sent by his father to this world to save it. Jesus is now, and rightfully so, sitting at the Father's right hand. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is my Lord!!“ God has said that He will not share His glory with another, but He shared it with His Son at the transfiguration of Christ. John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 48:11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. Was anyone in the bible ever rebuked for worshipping Christ? Deep input, it is OK to worship your Savior Jesus Christ. 1John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. “Now, a question for you. Do you consider yourself a new testament levite? “ No sir. 1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 1Jo 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Brother Glenn |

10 | who is the angel of the lord? | 1 John 4:2 | JCrichton | 157144
Hi, Superlotto! There are several Biblical passages in the Old Testament that speak directly on the angel/Angel of the Lord: The Angel of the Lord as Yahweh: Genesis 16:7-14 and 22:11-18; consider also Judges 2:1-5; 6:11-18; 13:3-22; Another Person of God: Zechariah 1:11-21; 3:1-10; 12:8; Jesus: Malachi 2:7; The Holy Spirit (in a round about way): Acts 8:21-29. God Bless! Angel |
