1 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Romans4_5 | 59391 | ||
Eph 2:8-9 for instance, is a part of PAUL'S Gospel, the gospel of the grace of God, which was *NOT* revealed on or before Pentecost. At Pentecost we still have Israel's gospel of the kingdom being preached. At this time, water baptism was REQUIRED for salvation. Mark 16:15 does NOT say be saved and then be baptized. It clearly says,"He that believes and is baptized shall be saved!". THIS is the message Peter preached on Pentecost (Acts 2:38). However, when God raised up the Apostle Paul, He began a NEW dispensation (Eph 3:2), where FAITH ALONE is enough, because the full ramifications of Christ's FINISHED WORK are now manifest. This is why Paul's salvation message in Acts 16:31 is DIFFERENT than Peter's in Acts 2:38. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." Water baptism was once required for salvation, but not anymore! Actually, we could say water baptism is FORBIDDEN today. Water baptism is a WORK, and according to Romans 4:5, salvation is to the one who DOES NOT WORK, but only believes!! Don't forget, there is ONE BAPTISM today (Eph 4:5), it's not water baptism, it's being baptized into Christ (see 1Cor 12:13). |

answer to romans4 5 Paul's message was not different than Peter's. You conveniently left out v.32 Spoke the word of the Lord means "told him the Gospel message". The jailors response to his message was to immediately be baptized, same response the 3,000 had. Obviously, if they had the same response, they heard the exact same message. |
